Meet Pavel Kildau | Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pavel Kildau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pavel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Since childhood, creating films has been my dream. I was around 14 years old when I shot my first short films. What started as a passion gradually evolved into a profession. Over time, I realized that I didn’t just want to film; I wanted to bring my ideas to life, maintaining control over every stage of the process.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Since I have always been passionate about this craft and deeply in love with cinema, I grew up watching a lot of movies. I’ve built a huge collection of films over the years, and everything just seemed to happen naturally. Overall, it has been an incredible and beautiful journey—one that, of course, came with its challenges and obstacles. But somehow, things always seemed to fall into place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is a one-of-a-kind place, one of the most unique places on Earth. It’s incredibly diverse, though at first glance, the city can appear repetitive, as many of the streets look alike. Without a doubt, I would take my friend to Venice. Venice is a truly unique spot, full of a special energy. I’ve heard that Venice is known as a place of winds, where energies are constantly circulating. The winds keep the energies in motion, preventing them from becoming stagnant. This creates an environment where the energy never stays stuck, and the atmosphere is always full of life and inspiration, constantly shifting and evolving. Los Angeles, much like Venice, shares a similar vibe—an ever-moving, dynamic city where creativity and energy flow through every corner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, my grandfather. Back in 1992, he traveled to Los Angeles from Ukraine and brought back a VHS camera, which I started using as a child to shoot my first films.
