Hi Pavel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own firm, Kolmogorov Law, was driven by a vision to provide personalized and strategic legal services that truly prioritize the client’s needs. Throughout my career, I’ve recognized that each client’s situation is unique, necessitating tailored solutions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Establishing my own practice allowed me to implement a client-centered philosophy, emphasizing trust, empathy, and individualized attention. This autonomy enables me to blend rigorous legal analysis with creative problem-solving, ensuring that each client receives not only exceptional legal representation but also a dedicated partner who genuinely cares about their journey through legal challenges.

I believe that the law should empower clients, not intimidate them, and my practice is structured to reflect that ideal. By forming my own firm, I’ve been able to assemble a team that shares my values—professionals dedicated to providing high-quality, innovative legal services that not only resolve immediate challenges but also proactively address future needs. Ultimately, starting my own business was about redefining the lawyer-client relationship, fostering long-term partnerships built on trust, understanding, and results.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Kolmogorov Law, our practice is devoted exclusively to business law, commercial litigation, and complex civil disputes. We represent entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals navigating high-stakes conflicts—from partnership disputes and breach of contract matters to fraud claims and business torts. Our approach is strategic, tailored, and always focused on long-term outcomes, not just short-term fixes.

What truly sets us apart is not just our legal expertise, but the perspective and purpose behind it. I founded this firm to provide the kind of representation I believe people deserve: principled, sharp, and personal. We see every case as part of a larger story—our clients’ reputations, businesses, and futures are often on the line, and we treat that responsibility with the gravity it deserves.

My journey to founding this firm was anything but conventional. I came to the United States as an immigrant with just $500 in my pocket, driven by a search for a freer, more open life. I grew up under communism, which gave me a deep appreciation for the values of liberty, free enterprise, and the rule of law. That experience shaped not only my worldview but also the way I practice law—with tenacity, humility, and a deep respect for opportunity.

Along the way, I took the uncommon path of earning law degrees both overseas and in the United States. Going to law school twice gave me a rare comparative legal perspective and sharpened my ability to think across systems, cultures, and frameworks—something that has become an asset in every case I handle. I’ve also had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, and that exposure has made me a better advocate—one who listens, adapts, and connects strategy with real-world sensibility.

Building Kolmogorov Law from the ground up has not been easy, but it’s been deeply rewarding. The challenges I’ve faced—both personal and professional—have shaped my philosophy: consistency matters, integrity matters, and being fully present for your clients matters.

What I want the world to know about Kolmogorov Law is simple—we are not a factory. We are a purpose-driven, high-touch law firm for those who value clarity, precision, and real partnership in their most critical legal matters. This firm is not just my profession—it’s my mission. And the journey is just beginning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What matters most in life isn’t just what you do or where you are, but who you share it with. Whether it’s clients, colleagues, or close friends, I believe deeply in creating memorable experiences rooted in connection, good conversation, and a strong sense of place. And fortunately, here in Orange County, we’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful and inspiring places in the country.

If my best friend were visiting for a week, we’d start in Laguna Beach—not just for the iconic views, but for the energy. It has a laid-back sophistication that’s hard to replicate. We’d grab a morning coffee at Zinc Café and then walk through Heisler Park or down to the tide pools. For lunch, maybe Nick’s or Urth Caffé overlooking the ocean, followed by a visit to one of the local galleries or the Pageant of the Masters if the timing’s right.

Another day, we’d explore Balboa Island—famous for its charm and nostalgia. I’d take them on the ferry, grab a frozen banana (because you have to), and stroll through the boutiques. From there, we’d head to Corona del Mar for a beach walk or hike in the reserve, and finish the evening at Five Crowns or A Restaurant—both timeless spots with an upscale feel and rich local history.

Costa Mesa would definitely be on the itinerary for its food scene and culture. We’d explore South Coast Plaza—not just for shopping but for the architecture and international vibe—and then head to The Camp or The Lab for a more eclectic experience. Dinner at Mastro’s or Vaca if we’re feeling indulgent.

One of my personal favorites is Dana Point, especially for a peaceful day by the marina. We’d rent a boat or simply sit by the water with coffee and conversation. There’s something about Dana Point that resets your energy—calm but inspiring. For dinner, Coastal Kitchen or Chart House at sunset is hard to beat.

Throughout the week, we’d weave in time to simply hang out, connect with friends, and meet people. That’s the real magic—Orange County isn’t just beautiful, it’s full of interesting, driven, and creative individuals from all walks of life. As someone who has worked with people from all over the world, I’m constantly inspired by the diversity of thought and ambition in this community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wholeheartedly believe in Justice Thurgood Marshall’s timeless words: “None of us got where we are solely by pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. We got here because somebody… bent down and helped us pick up our boots.” Reflecting on my own journey, there are many who’ve helped me along the way—but I’d like to especially recognize my parents, Leonid and Alla. Their constant support, guidance, and belief in integrity, empathy, and perseverance profoundly shaped who I am, both personally and professionally.

I also want to give special recognition to my older brother Igor, whose wisdom, support, and encouragement have significantly influenced my path. His presence and advice have consistently guided me through pivotal moments, helping me grow both professionally and personally.
Additionally, I want to express immense gratitude to my wife Anna, whose steadfast support, patience, and encouragement have been crucial to my achievements. Her strength and partnership have been my foundation, uplifting and inspiring me through every chapter of this journey.

And of course, my teenage son Kevin has been a tremendous source of inspiration. His curiosity, determination, and thoughtful perspective continually remind me of the importance of purpose, growth, and leading with integrity.

Last but certainly not least, my 11-month-old daughter Alexandra brings pure joy and renewed perspective into my life. Her presence reminds me daily of the future we’re building—not just for ourselves, but for the next generation. She’s a beautiful symbol of hope, and she motivates me to work harder, dream bigger, and stay grounded in what truly matters.
