We had the good fortune of connecting with Pedro Cavaletti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pedro, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
“You’re not everyone”. My mother used to tell me this but I only realized the importance of it when I started to work at places where everyone had more experience than I did. I felt like I was bad at my craft because I wasn’t like other people, but in fact I didn’t understand that I shouldn’t be. Everyone is unique and has something special that no one else has in the room, so I’m just trying to believe in myself as much as I can.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to say that I’ve always been a dreamer. I used to watch cartoons and movies when I was little and all I wanted was to use those outfits and be in that world! So that’s when I started to draw clothes and make videos. Everyone in my family and friends circle knew that I was really passionate about it, so I always got a lot of support to follow this kind of career, except for my mom who took a while to agree with it.
I started to audition for movies and got my first jobs as an actor and as a model when I was really young, around 12 I guess. Working in that business made me realized how much I love art in general, but I always wanted to do more than 1 thing. So I would write, direct, act, make the clothes, everything I could. It seemed impossible for me to choose only one.
In 2020 the covid hit and I started to reflect on all I did until that moment, I had walked in runway shows, acted in movies and made my own clothing collection, but I was still on high school and I felt like I needed to learn more before choosing something to study on college, so I moved to New York to study “Fashion Presentation” at the “New School” in Parsons. It was such a cool experience and I got to learn a lot. Turns out that I was missing acting, so I came back to my hometown and acted in 2 new movies, and then I was missing fashion, so that’s when I realized I couldn’t be doing only one thing. So I moved to LA to study acting while I make my own fashion projects, like my Met Gala outfit, in which I’ve worked on designing and making my own outfit for the event, even though I couldn’t go to it yet. Also I’ve been working as a model to runway shows to the LA fashion week!
I’m having so much fun and I feel like I’m knowing myself more every single day! So I’m excited to see what comes next in my career!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I guess I would take her to the touristic points first, like the Hollywood sign etc. And then I would bring her to the Griffith Observatory to watch the sunset! Buy some Brazilian food and have fun around North Hollywood!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father always supported me and this was a bless in my life but having friends that help me in my projects and not to give up, it’s means the world to me! So this shoutout goes to my friend Rafaela who is always here to give a hand to make my own projects here in LA, also to my friends in Brazil who helped me in my first clothing collection!
