We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Jang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursue an artistic and creative career because storytelling has always been a powerful way for me to connect with people on a deeper level. Through acting, directing, and writing, I can explore complex emotions, challenge perspectives, and shed light on important topics like mental health and human resilience. My background in martial arts and stunt work gave me a strong foundation for dynamic physical expression, but it’s the emotional and psychological depth of characters and narratives that truly inspire me to create.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in storytelling that explores the complexities of the human experience, often focusing on themes like identity, mental health, and resilience. What sets me apart is my ability to blend emotionally driven narratives with a deep understanding of human psychology, sometimes incorporating action, but not relying on it.

Being of mixed racial identity has profoundly shaped my worldview, allowing me to see life through multiple cultural lenses. This perspective informs my work, helping me create stories that resonate across diverse experiences and challenge traditional narratives.

I’m most proud of projects like Mask and Simulation, where I dive into the psychological layers of characters, using both subtle moments and intense emotional beats to drive the story.

The journey hasn’t been easy. The film industry is filled with rejection and uncertainty, but I’ve learned that persistence, adaptability, and staying true to your vision are key. Every setback taught me resilience, much like the lessons from my martial arts training and the values instilled by my parents—hard work from my father, and strength in adversity from my mother.

Through my work and my brand, I want the world to know that storytelling is more than entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for connection, reflection, and change. My goal is to create films that resonate emotionally, spark conversations, and inspire people to see the world—and themselves—a little differently.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting LA, I’d create an itinerary packed with iconic spots and hidden gems. We’d start with breathtaking views from the top of the Intercontinental Downtown and a steak dinner at 71Above for an unforgettable sunset. A beach day in Santa Monica wouldn’t be complete without dining at The Lobster, followed by a scenic drive to Malibu for dinner at Geoffrey’s. We’d explore cultural landmarks like The Getty, wander Venice Beach, and catch city views from Griffith Observatory. I’d take them to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the historic Roosevelt Hotel for that classic Hollywood vibe, then go behind the scenes with studio tours at Universal Studios and Warner Bros. We’d dive into LA’s food scene with sushi and ramen in Little Tokyo, dim sum at ABC Seafood, and legendary Korean BBQ in K-Town. For fun, we’d visit the LA Zoo, ride roller coasters at Six Flags, and catch a show at LA Live in Hollywood. It’d be the perfect blend of adventure, culture, and amazing food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a huge part of my journey to the incredible martial arts teachers I had growing up. Their guidance instilled in me the values of self-improvement, discipline, and the responsibility to use my skills to make the world a better place. They taught me that true strength isn’t just physical—it’s about protecting others, standing up for what’s right, and constantly striving to be the best version of yourself.

I also want to honor my father, an immigrant who taught me the meaning of hard work and instilled in me the drive to pursue the American Dream. His determination and sacrifices showed me the power of perseverance. My mother, on the other hand, taught me resilience in the face of adversity. Her strength and unwavering support have been a guiding force throughout my life.

Alongside them, my family, friends, and creative mentors have been pillars of support, inspiring me to push boundaries in storytelling and life. Their influence shaped not just my career but my purpose.
