Meet Phil Rice | Actor & Acting Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Phil Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phil, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business, “Lights, Camera, Ready!”, wasn’t just a logical decision; it was a calling. After years of grinding, I finally achieved my dream of being on TV. But once I reached that milestone, I found myself asking, “What now?”
It didn’t take long to realize that my new dream was to help others reach theirs. I began reflecting on how much support I could’ve used when I was starting out, trying to navigate the industry. That’s when the idea was born. I wanted to create a space where actors could get real guidance and start building a career in TV/Film with confidence.
For me, it’s about giving back, helping people find their path, and showing them that if I could do it, so can they. Helping others accomplish their acting goals feels like a purpose I was always meant to fulfill.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company, “Lights, Camera, Ready!”, stands out because I bring the perspective of a working actor—currently recurring on Mayor of Kingstown, and having appeared on Empire and Chicago PD. My experience on set allows me to offer aspiring actors real-time insights into the industry.
I’ve reached where I am today by following my heart and remaining disciplined. I’ve learned that we all have a purpose. And, every challenge we face helps guide us toward that purpose.
I want my brand to communicate a powerful message: never give up on your dreams. I’m dedicated to motivating others to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Anything is possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d kick things off with a sushi feast at Sushi Stop, digging into their dynamite roll, baked salmon, and shrimp tempura roll trio. Then, we’d hit the Hollywood Walk of Fame to check out the stars and soak up inspiration.
To top off the day, we’d head over to the Ace Hotel rooftop. We’d kick back and take in the city views as the sun sets. It’d be the perfect way to chill and wrap up an epic day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been so many people who have helped me along my journey, but if I had to dedicate this shoutout to someone special, it would be my Uncle. He passed away not too long ago, but his impact on my life is something I carry with me every day. When I first came to LA, trying to find my footing, he opened his door and let me crash on his couch. His belief in me never wavered, and he always motivated me to keep going, even when things got tough. His encouragement meant the world. He’s a big reason I’m here today, and I’m forever grateful.
