It has been extremely challenging especially with this last year in the pandemic with stores closing and events canceled as Im sure most my fellow small business owners can attest to. Although tough, I feel very blessed to have made it to almost 7 years, being a black designer born in South Central to teen parents, the odds were not in my favor. Seeing my work that started in my mind become a tangible product that people put on and feel good in is a great feeling of accomplishment. I’m very proud of building and fostering of relationships with my clients, whom alot of them have become dear friends.
Showing up to dress our clients for some of the most important days of their lives, weddings, NBA & NFL drafts, career accolades, awards ceremonies, graduations etc., We go above and beyond to create an unwavering experience to make you look and feel your best on your special day and everyday in between.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oohhh thats a great question! There are so many great little cities and hidden gems in every neighborhood that make up LA. Well pre pandemic life was much more fun obviously! So ill stick with that life; First we’d go for a hike close to my house, Franklin Canyon has quickly become my favorite, except there is no cell reception which could be a good thing on the bright side, they have multiple trails, a lake, turtles, ducks and the most beautiful tall pampas grass in fall. Next we’d venture down to Nate ‘n Als for breakfast, an LA staple thats been around for 75 years, fluffiest eggs! Afterward we’d hit up a few shops in beverly hills and walk around rodeo and end the day with dinner at Olivetta, a new LA hot spot in West Hollywood.
Descanso gardens is one of my favorite places to spend the day getting lost in natures beauty, located in La Cañada Flintridge, its so gorgeous and the amount of inspiration I receive from this outdoor garden is immeasurable. Next we’d make a pit stop to my favorite taco truck L.A Authentica Birrieria, the best tacos in LA and I like to think im a taco connoisseur. Later we’d grab a cocktail on the rooftop at Harriets in West Hollywood, great place for people watching.
The Doris Japanese Garden located in the Kenneth Hahn state park in Ladera Heights is a perfect place to start your day, it features a koi pond, turtles and many trails to hike and has a peaceful zen vibe great for meditating before you start your day and get into the hectic LA traffic. After we would grab breakfast at the legendary breakfast hotspot The Serving Spoon located in Inglewood, the french toast is Delicious!
The Venice canals (LA’s version of Venice Italy’s legendary canals) are an LA highlight, we would take a stroll thru the canals and grab a bike to rent to ride down the venice boardwalk to Santa Monica where I spent alot of my childhood. I would suggest checking out the SanMo staple the Santa Monica pier, which has a roller coaster, arcade and carnival games and delicious treats right above the ocean. Afterward we’d grab dinner at the Lobster, fantastic people watching and view of the pier and the beach.
One thing we’d have to do is a day at the Getty Museum, it has so much to offer we would definitely need he full day to explore. After this have dinner at my other favorite restaurant Craig’s in LA. It has a neighborhood friendly vibe and the chicken parm is a must try! We’d end the day at the comedy store to see some unknown and well known standup comics, which is always fun.
Lastly I’d take them for a farmers market sunday on melrose place, alot of local vendors set up shop featuring jewelery, crystals, fish, produce, cheese. turkish towels and lots of other local tchotchke’s to revel over. After we have to have lunch at the one and only Roscoes chicken and waffles, they have a drink called the sunrise which is half lemonade, half Orange juice but they dont mix it, I still have yet to figure out how the drink isnt blended, it is an absolute delight to top off your chicken and waffles!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out would go both my family and friends; My friends are pretty much my family, I’ve known most of them for multiple decades in which I am extremely grateful to have that. My business is named after my best friend Jacqualine (Jax) who we unfortunately loss to cervical cancer at the age of 27 in November of 2013; She knew Everything about Everything and inspired me to live life to fullest, don’t sweat the small stuff and to appreciate a sisterhood, One of her favorite quotes was by Oscar Romero~”Aspire not to have more, but to be more.”
