We had the good fortune of connecting with Pietro Cornini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pietro, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
This is a tough question on a lot of different levels. If you had asked me this question years ago the answer would be completely different from now, why would I say this? Because if I think about where I started and what I am doing right now, it makes me very grateful every morning thinking about it and I can see how fast I am growing in my work, and how much I am learning every day that makes me grow even faster. I could easily say now that my end goal would be to be a great film director, but my end goal, in fact, it doesn’t exist, I understood that I have an Objective, a single goal, to reach every time, but when I get there I realized how little have I done and I rise my next Goal even higher and higher and higher, so I will never know where is my end goal and where I could go, everything it’s a work in progress, I am in love with this work in progress, a lot of beautiful things are ahead in front of me and I can’t wait to get there.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started from nothing, I completed the scientific secondary school in Italy back in 2018 and from that point, I knew nothing about Directing or anything related to commercials or cinema, so I started working from self-learned in several web projects where I started to learn the basics. After almost 2 Years in 2020, I went to the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, where I had the fantastic opportunity to study deeply into filmmaking, and that’s where I grew the most, during that time I had to go back to Italy because of Covid and that was the time where I started my proper professional career. In 2020 I had the opportunity to Produce and Direct a 150000€ Commercial project for E80 Group, a world leader in automated logistics. That project went really well, it definitely launched me. After that I completed NYFA Film School in LA, I did a couple of Short Films as an Assistant Director and then I went back to Italy as a freelance called by a production company to continue working on commercial projects. In 2022 I had the opportunity to direct and Produce a multitude of commercial projects with very high profiles in the world industry, such as E80 Group, Evian, Constellation Brands, Niagara Waters, Asahi beverages, Coca-Cola, and much more. I had the opportunity to travel the world and go to their factories to film their logistic systems to create commercial videos and spots to send in big projectors at some of the biggest conventions in the world as Drinktec 2022 (Beverage fair) and Interpack 2023 (Packaging fair), also my videos had the opportunity to be presented during live shows event for E80 Group during these fairs. And here is now, I am continuing my commercial career as well as my cinema career since I have a personal project that just got funded and is going to be shot in January 2024, It’s a short film I wrote and I will be directing. I have to admit that it wasn’t easy doing all of it, but I realize it now because at the moment I was just focused on working and doing what I love the most, so it didn’t really matter at the time, and still, right now, I just keep going and keep working focussed on reaching more and more. As of right now, I have the feeling that I haven’t done anything yet even if everything that I did was quite important, I want to keep going and learning as much as I can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all, we must go eat and drink the best local food I know, because in Italy food is the core of our culture and I love food and cooking. After this, I would create a very nice road trip around where I live, every day in a different place, from the city to the seaside to the mountains.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would Like to dedicate this Shout-out to Neway, which is the production company that made me start my career in the commercial world and gave me the opportunity to find these clients and create projects with them around the world. I also want to shoutout Davide Cincis a renowned senior assistant director in Italy who is mentoring me and giving me precious life advice and also Alessio Giurgola, Marthinus Philippus Rabie, Alex Kumph, Pietro Barba who have been the greatest support in my life, and very close friends, for everything that I do, create, write they are always there to help me out.
