We had the good fortune of connecting with Piper Welch and Jennifer Horne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer & Piper, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

ReJen²erate, a fitness and wellness business, came to fruition in March 2022 by longtime friends Jennifer “Piper” Welch and Jennifer Horne. We have both always been full-time moms with full-time careers, dealing with the constant challenge of balancing the demands of work and home. And while our jobs paid the bills, neither of us were creatively fulfilled in our professions. We had talked for years about leaving our jobs and starting a business, however, the timing was never quite right and our vision wasn’t clear. The pandemic, and the ensuing shut-down, gave us the opportunity to reflect on what we truly valued and how we could use it to help others. Fitness has always been a huge part of our lives and friendship. Aside from working out together, we’ve run 5 Ks to Half Marathons over the years. Piper took her passion for fitness a step further and was certified as a personal trainer. We threw around the idea of opening a fitness or pilates studio together but it never quite sparked our passion. And then it hit us! Jen was an avid meditator. It was a tool that got her through the low of an unhealthy marriage and divorce and helped her tremendously in rebuilding her life. We decided to combine these two passions and Rejen2erate was born. Aside from having classes in Toluca Lake, we take our signature Sweat, Serenity & Sip class to clients for private parties as well as corporate wellness events. Our format is a 50 minute high intensity workout followed by a relaxing and thought provoking 20 minute guided meditation. We like to say “Piper will hype you up and Jen will calm you down.” And then there’s the mimosas! We end all our classes with a refreshing mimosa or “mock”mosa and plenty of time to connect with others, which has been a huge component of our success. The whole journey has been amazing for us both….we’ve definitely created something that feels fulfilling!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Every month we put out a schedule of our Sweat, Serenity & Sip classes- these entail a 45 minute high intensity workout and 20 minute meditation followed by mimosa’s and time to connect. Additionally, we do “Take to You” events which is bringing our class to you- your home, your guests. Whether it’s for a birthday, shower or family event, it’s a fun and healthy option for any gathering being planned. We also take our class format to companies for corporate wellbeing and team building events. Piper tailors her workout to incorporate partnership and teamwork. Her obstacle courses are a blast! And, as Jen writes all of our own meditations, we customize those to address a company’s particular stresses or to highlight a company’s values in a meaningful way. We’ve also made collaboration an important part of our work. Whether it’s collaborating with a trainer that does a different style of workout or with a non-profit trying to bring awareness to a particular cause, we love building our community in this way! , Since we’ve started we have had events with celebrity trainer Davee Youngblood as well as with “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant Melanie Buttarazzi to raise money for her non-profit organization Fostering Dreams Project that uses dance to educate, empower and inspire children in foster care. In 2022 we also began partnering with Instadrip, a vitamin IV therapy company that schedules drips at our events. Collaborations like these truly feed our passion and joy for what we’re doing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many amazing things to do in Los Angeles. Seeing as we live and work in Toluca Lake, we’ll start with our favorites in our area!

Eating & Drinking:

Verse LA- Grammy winning Mixer Many Marroquin’s supper club. Sophisticated retro decor designed with superior acoustics in mind. Crafted cocktails, delicious food and live music.

Cascabel- a 1920’s spanish style house sets the ambiance for some of the best upscale mexican food in LA.

Forman’s Tavern- neighborhood Whiskey bar with a welcoming & casual vibe and a great outdoor patio.

The Smoke House- directly across from the studios, this is an “Old Hollywood” staple. Have dinner and stay for live music in the bar/lounge.

Sights:
Lake Hollywood- it’s actually a reservoir but beautiful none the less. Get a little exercise while taking a walk around the 3.3 mile loop. And don’t forget your camera as the bridge has the perfect view of the Hollywood sign. There is no better selfie spot in LA!

And if you are in LA during the summer, rooftops are a must! See a rooftop movie at Melrose Rooftop Theatre or Rooftop Cinema Club downtown . Go have dinner or drinks at Perch or Catch LA. There are so many rooftops to choose from in Los Angeles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our “Shout Out” definitely goes to our amazing friend group. We are very blessed to have a tight knit group of girlfriends who have been there from the start. They have helped us define our vision, given us constructive and honest feedback and plugged us out in the community. While each of them has contributed to our success, we have to give an extra shout out to our friend and CJO (Chief Joy Officer) Donna Finn. She has been the unsung hero behind the scenes and we truly could not do it without her!

Our friend group was the inspiration for our Sweat, Serenity & Sip format. We have heard the criticism that having mimosas at the end of our classes and events isn’t “healthy” and we disagree. Whether you choose a mimosa or a “mock”mosa at the end of class, it’s the social interaction, bonding and support that is 100% the healthiest aspect of what we do. The pandemic helped us realize that not everyone has a strong support group to lean on and many people felt extremely isolated during that time. We wanted to create something to address that. The “Sip” time at the end is all about meeting, sharing and connecting with people. Watching those connections being made has been the most rewarding and gratifying part of our business.

So thank you to our “Go To Gals” for all that you’ve done and all that you are! We love you!
