We had the good fortune of connecting with Pixie Dust and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pixie Dust, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
A creative career offers me a platform for self-expression and exploration. It allows me to constantly evolve as an artist, pushing boundaries, and discovering new facets of myself through my work. This journey of self-discovery and growth is incredibly fulfilling, as it not only enhances my skills but also enriches my perspective on the world.

I chose a creative path because I believe in the power of music, to heal, transcend the ordinary and elevate the human experience. It’s a privilege to contribute to something that has the potential to inspire positive change, foster connections, and create a meaningful impact. This belief fuels my passion and drives me to continually explore new ways to harness the transformative power of music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My musical inspiration stems from the 90s rave sound, with a new school twist, inviting everyone to get their booty shakin’ on the dance floor. I love to DJ a diverse mix of Hard House, Trance, Euro Dance, Ghetto Tech Booty Bass, and HardGroove.

Born and raised in the LA rave scene, I immersed myself in the culture and community, absorbing as much as I could to eventually carve out my own creative path. As a first-generation American with Native and Hispanic roots, I was fortunate to attend the Guildford Conservatoire in the UK and spend a year living abroad. This experience was pivotal in developing my craft and deepening my inspiration, allowing me to blend diverse cultural influences into my work.

Music has always been my first love; I completed my BA & MA in Acting and Musical Theatre and spent the last 20 years performing on stage and screen and over the past three, I’ve developed a newfound passion for DJing and music production. I found that DJs can create memorable experiences through their sets, much like a theatrical performance, by emotionally connecting with their audiences and leveraging music’s power to unite diverse groups.

I remain dedicated to aligning with my goals and vision each day—constantly listening, rehearsing, and learning while staying true to myself. Earlier this year, it was a magical full-circle moment to be featured in a commercial for Alpha Theta / Pioneer DJ Global, merging all my passions and talents. I also had the opportunity earlier this month to record a special mix for the LICKNDIP Fashion Show and strut down the runway to my set, alongside many talented artists and creatives.

My objective as an artist is to elevate the energy and amplify the collective vibe, as music is a powerful healer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Underground scene is where LA thrives, blending music and community, celebrating alternative art in all mediums. The integration of art, music, and fashion at events like LICKNDIP serves as catalysts for positive change and engagement in Los Angeles’ vibrant cultural scene. The events are inclusive spaces and provide a platform for local talent to experiment, collaborate, grow, and embrace their individuality, contributing to an atmosphere where artistic expression flourishes. This has led to discussions and actions around broader social issues, making these events not just entertainment but also spaces for cultural dialogue and activism.

Art is the heartbeat of a community. By supporting local creators, we sustain the vibrant energy and diversity that keep our world dynamic and resilient.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m super excited to be finishing up an EP with j6! The beauty of collaboration is that you grow together, learn from each other, and create something that neither could have done alone. Working with j6 has been a catalyst for mutual motivation and inspiration, pushing each other towards achieving the extraordinary. He’s a talented producer and has been such a supportive friend/artist. We bring out the best in each other and can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on…then it’s back to the studio!

I am also extremely grateful for the community at LICKNDIP. They are constantly elevating local artists, pushing boundaries and fostering a supportive environment where creativity thrives. Their dedication to nurturing emerging talent and encouraging artistic experimentation has been instrumental in shaping my journey as an artist. The connections and experiences I’ve gained have not only broadened my artistic horizons but also deepened my appreciation for the profound impact of music and art on our lives.
