We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Some habits that have helped me in my creative career have been not stopping. It’s ok to grow slowly. I believe that just putting your creative energy out into the universe consistently goes a long way. Another one that has has helped with motivation is creating a challenge for myself like the 100 days of drawing challenge I created with my sister
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since I was a kid I have always loved drawing and creating things. I remember in Jr High I started drawing my own characters and giving them personalities. Since then I kept creating. It wasn’t until 2 years ago that I really began to focus and get serious about my art career. I started to feel strongly about making my art my career and continue making people happy with my creations for the rest of my life.I actually just recently turned full time with my art! That has been such major and exciting decision to make! I am feeling lots of feelings but If I have remembered any good art advice its that its good to try the unknown. I have a great support group including my boyfriend Evan who is a fellow creative and keeps me going and brings the best creative side of me out! I have learned that it is very important to always believe in yourself. Again, touching on energy, you want to give positive energy to your self esteem and know and believe that YOU GOT THIS, and you are the top of the pops!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Los Angeles! I was born in East La and I live in Long Beach now but I always go back to LA. I have some favorite spots and things and activities I love doing out there! Where to begin?! I spent a lot of time hanging out and getting surreal with my boyfriend out in Los Angeles. Our typical outing would probably start with breakfast at Fred 62, an old diner in Los Feliz open 24/7! We would follow that with a little drive to the Griffith Observatory and feel cosmic and very small. After that we plan to pay a visit to Pasadena to visit the Norton Simon Museum, but before that! We drive to Hermosillo (Highland Park Brewery) to share a Timbo Pils! After that we leave for the Norton Simon, once there I’d walk straight to the painting by Vincent Van Gough of his mother, I gravitate towards it, it has great colors and it really makes me feel good. Once we are finished and rejouvinated with creativity, we make our way back to downtown and visit my favorite place Olvera Street, a historic district and mexican marketplace, sometimes we even join the crowd as they dance to the traditional cumbias playing. Once finished we make our way to our fav wine bar Prado, that place really makes you feel cool, calm, and collected. By then we get a text message that our table is ready across the street at Masa! After a long day we either love to end our night feeling spooky with a cocktail walking the halls down The Queen Mary.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
shoutout to my sister Heidi Moreno who Is also an artist (@heidiroo_art). We have always teamed up and pumped each other up along our creative journeys. Having a friend that shares a similar career goals as you is always very helpful along the way, and I’m really lucky that friend is my sister.
