Meet Punit Madhwani | Creative Director / Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Punit Madhwani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Punit, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Question : What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a creative person with big visions. I realised that I wanted to work on my own in the creative industry so I could implement my own ideas and be my own boss. The idea was that I could create a service that is tailored to individual styles and needs meaning, I am not only offering my expertise and creativity but I can make all of my clients happy by adding a unique approach. Building friendships with people who I could also provide a service too is something I always wanted in a successful business – and that’s what I made!
Question : What’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
I think that the idea of being able to achieve anything you want to, which is true but it is not always as easy said than done. It takes hard work, action, discipline and motivation to achieve something especially if you do not have access to the tools, lifestyle or natural intelligence for it.
Not everyone is as privileged as some people so for them it may take a lot longer for them to reach something, which is fine. But, this made me realise that you should not compare yourself to others because everyone is on their own journey.
They could be aiming for the exact same goal and success but their path to get there could be so different to yours. So, never judge, don’t doubt yourself and keep moving forward until you’re there – this is a much better way to look at it!
Question : Risk taking: how do you think about risk, what role has taking risks played in your life/career?
I think that as business owners, we are always taking risks – even if we don’t realise it – that is what makes every day so exciting!
I would say that a risk I take in my business is the fact I have very high responsibility as it is someone’s big day – which they’ve spent a lot of time planning, a lot of money spent and a time they have always dreamed of – so the pressure is there to capture their memories in the best way I can for them!
This is not a risk that I feel I can’t successfully do – because I know I can and do! But, there is always that thought that I can’t mess this up…it’s huge!
Question : What habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The biggest habit I feel helps me succeed – in fact, this came naturally to me – is just absolutely loving what I do on a daily basis! I get to do my dream job every single day, capturing the love, and memories of such a wonderful time in couples’ lives – what is not to love?
Consistently reminding myself daily that I love what I do reminds me that I can keep on going to do even bigger and better things and continue living the life that brings me joy, and my couples joy!
Question : What is the most important factor behind your success/the success of your brand?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is that I take pride in building genuine relationships with all of my clients. Building these relationships allows not only me, but my clients to feel at ease, like they have a friend by their side and to build trust so they know that I will provide them with the high-quality service they’re after!
It is much more than getting to know my clients so that we are on the same page – it’s about connecting with them so I understand their vision, goals and even their relationship as a couple. Doing so allows me to have a unique approach to my work so I can give them a personlised service that achieves exactly what they’re after.
Question : What’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that my business and my career life have taught me is to use my own skills to provide a unique service that stands out from the rest. There is no point sticking to a cookie-cutter strategy – where we all provide the exact same service and style – it is all about implementing your own skills, creativity, ideas and beliefs and I believe this is what allows you to connect with and land your dream clients, who are meant for you!
I also believe that when you do something that you absolutely love and have passion for, you never get bored of it!
Question : Work life balance: how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about the balance?
I have a good work-life balance and this is something that has allowed me to be the best version of myself for my business! I can balance my life as this is my full-time job and I only work on the weekend, and I only take a certain amount of weddings to keep my work life and personal life balanced.
Doing so allows me to be kind to myself – I can do other things that make me happy, as well as spend time with loved ones. Also, it allows me to come back to work feeling motivated, energised and positive to give my clients top-notch service!
Question : How did you come up with the idea of your business?
I have always had a very creative flair and I knew this was something I am passionate about and something that I have a love for but it was always, “when should I take the leap?” …
My wife has always helped me make the decision to work for myself, so of course, I listened to her. She could see the passion I had and the success that it could bring to our lives and here I am today!
Question : Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?
Since I was a kid at school I have had a very creative imagination and I wanted to get into the creative field as painting was always my favourite activity! Later on in my life when I turned 18, I got my first professional camera…and the rest is history!
I knew it was my dream to pursue something that would bring happiness to my life and the camera in hand always felt authentic to me. Since then, I have been taking photos and have successfully made it my full-time job.
Question : What are you inspired by?
Before I was a wedding photographer every time I went to a wedding I would see everyone’s happy faces and there were always great vibes all around – a time when everyone comes together and forgets about the world around them! It made me feel that I should start working in the wedding industry because there is so much to offer and experience.
I knew that picking up my camera and capturing all of the emotions, key moments and fun that takes place during a wedding day would make me happy – especially knowing that the couple could look back at everything that took place – even those parts they missed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is that I take pride in building genuine relationships with all of my clients.
