We had the good fortune of connecting with Pura Acebal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pura, why did you pursue a creative career?
Why not! The world is filled with beauty. Creativity is tool for growth. It’s an art that is magnified when you silence the noise around you and focus on the stillness and beauty within yourself. I have always been a very creative person. Even as a child, i excelled in that department and as I grew older it became suppressed by other necessities. Like many others, I was able to focus on my creative side during covid and cultivate my little plant business as well as my pots. It tapped into a forgotten and suppressed part of me. The joy I felt In creating was something i absolutely had to share with the world because it brought the best out in me and happy, creative me is the best me.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my plant business apart from others is the knowledge I freely share to anyone willing to keep a plant alive. In other words, you didn’t just purchase a plant. You’re also taking knowledge and tools to keep your new plant alive. I make myself available to anyone willing to take that on. There’s pride in sharing this information and watching something work because I helped strengthen that confidence in someone.

It wasn’t easy starting a business during a pandemic for obvious reasons but it it has been so rewarding. This is my money, my work, my passion, my creativity, name and reputation on the line and that is always so scary but I’ve learned to silence the negative chatter in my mind and procede with my vision. I’ve only met the coolest people along the way and I know there’s more of that coming my way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love how everything is in close vicinity for an eclectic fun filled day!

We can start the day in nature on the equestrian trails. I will not disclose the location because it is my happy place not too many people know about and It’s fun keeping this place a secret.
Brunch or lunch is a must in any beach city close by. I haven’t been disappointed yet! A bike ride on the beach. A pit stop at Najas. A sandwich at Mickeys Deli in Hermosa Beach and dinner and a night cap at Tony’s on the pier

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s not a single childhood memory that exists in my mind that doesn’t include the Mexican women in my life sharing, cultivating, rejoicing in a garden. The love and affinity I have for what I do stems from these beautiful moments
