Hi Qingyang, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Most of us are unwilling to completely abandon our passions or dreams. The enthusiasm for our dreams often keeps us going despite facing challenges. Sometimes, practical hurdles might force us to pause temporarily. However, if our passion remains strong, we’re willing to explore alternative avenues to sustain our dreams. If some indications are suggesting that it’s time to step back from pursuing our dream directly, just taking a breather to focus on supporting activities is wise – our passion will guide us in finding these alternatives. Eventually, with sufficient resources and time, we can happily return to pursuing our dream wholeheartedly.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in interactive graphic design and UI/UX design, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from SVA. My professional journey includes invaluable experiences at BBDO Beijing, a renowned 4A advertising firm, and Aproject Factory, a prominent design agency. My passion lies in creating designs that are visually appealing and logically sound.

My career path hasn’t been without challenges, but my dedication to design remains unwavering. My ultimate goal is to inspire greater participation in the product design process, and I actively seek out opportunities to achieve this.

One of my notable achievements is the design of a VR game called Neckstal Adventure, which promotes neck health by encouraging users to take breaks and unwind through immersive gameplay. This project earned me recognition as a silver winner in the INDIGO Design Award and a gold winner in the Muse Creative Design Award.

Developing Neckstal Adventure presented unique challenges, including my first experience with Unity for crafting 3D models and designing VR scenes. Additionally, I delved into animation to create the entry animation from scratch. Through overcoming these challenges, I acquired valuable skills and knowledge that I can apply to future endeavors.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I spent four memorable years in New York, and if my best friend were to visit for a week, I’d make sure they experience the city’s vibrant essence to the fullest. We’d kick off our adventure with a scenic hike in Bear Mountain or catch the breathtaking sunset at Coney Island Beach. Evenings would be reserved for exploring historic speakeasies or cozy jazz bars, immersing ourselves in the electric atmosphere of New York’s nightlife.

Throughout the week, we’d embark on a culinary journey, indulging in the diverse flavors of the city at iconic spots like Katz’s Delicatessen and Di Fara Pizza. Of course, we wouldn’t miss out on visiting must-see landmarks such as Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and the High Line, ensuring a perfect blend of nature, culture, and excitement in the city that never sleeps.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my life, my father has been an incredible source of inspiration, embodying the spirit of continuous learning and achievement. His remarkable ability to acquire knowledge and accomplish diverse goals has left a lasting impression on me. His insatiable curiosity and unwavering determination are truly admirable traits.

One of the aspects that truly sets my father apart is his diverse range of hobbies, including playing traditional musical instruments and gardening. These pursuits reflect his passion for exploring various facets of life and culture. Even as he approaches his 60s, he remains undeterred in his quest for knowledge and self-improvement. His decision to embark on the journey of learning a new language every day is a testament to his unwavering dedication to personal growth.

From my father, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about embracing possibilities, practicing patience, and fearlessly confronting new challenges. His life serves as a shining example of the boundless potential that can be realized through lifelong learning and an indomitable spirit.
