We had the good fortune of connecting with Quintin Mims and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quintin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My spiritual mind set! My faith in Christ is the most important factor of my success. I rededicated my life to Christ in November 2018, and although I don’t go to church, I was Blessed to hear and receive the Word by listening to a Bible app. I heard how often Jesus said ‘Let it be done according to your faith’, ‘Your faith has healed you’, and ‘do you believe I can do what you ask of me’? Now I’ve been in Bible studies most of my life and have gone to Church most of my life, but hearing the book of Matthew read in 30 or so minutes was the moment for me! I decided in that moment that I would trust Him and be obedient. I realized that I learn very well by hearing! I started listening to just the book of Matthew over and over again every day. My faith increased and I began to believe in Him more and more. In 2019 while working at JetBlue as a flight attendant, I was told that I was losing my part-time position and if I wanted to stay part-time I would have to transfer to NY or Boston. I had been part-time for over five years. I was trying to act, model and work as a flight attendant. It was so challenging to do it all. I just wanted to be a full-time artist. I prayed about leaving JetBlue and just acting and modeling full-time. My faith was strong. I believed, and I was obedient to His word. On July 25th, 2019, I retired from JetBlue and became a full-time artist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Every day I work on my art and storytelling. There are so many highs and lows. It’s up to me to show what I can do, so I have to stay self motivated daily.

I’m proud to be growing my business and brand as an artist and storyteller across a wide range of platforms (fashion, commercial, tv, film, etc).

A few projects I am excited and grateful to have been a part of recently are:

the Peacock TV series ‘Bel Air, Season 2, Episode 2’ as Dr. Erik Richardson;
an upcoming Netflix film, ‘Lonely Planet’, written and directed by Susannah Grant, in which I play a supporting role as a friend to one of the lead actors, played by Laura Dern;
another upcoming Netflix film ‘Uglies’ (based on the first book from a NY Times bestselling series, called “Uglies”), directed by McG, in which I play a supporting role;
and a few advertising campaigns including my first Times Square digital billboard for the clothing brand, Extra Curricular; my first worldwide beauty campaign for UK based skincare brand, Augustinus Bader.

My wife and I write every day! We just finished shooting our first short film ‘In Therapy’, which I Executive Produced, co-wrote, co-directed and played the lead character, “Sebastian”. Our film will be entered into multiple film festivals once post production completes. Our intention in producing this film is to encourage men to seek therapy. Our production company will produce at least one or two films per year!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

There are SO many good spots in our city! It would really depend on the person, but here are some of my favorite highlights. And I would suggest they plan for 10 days!

Downtown LA – eat at Pizzeria Bianca DTLA, explore the LA Mart, Arts District, Tokyo Town, and Olvera Street.

Santa Monica for shopping and fun on the pier then head to Venice Beach for more people watching, dance in the drum circle on the sand, walk and shop along the boardwalk, experience local artisans and admire the street art of LA.

From Venice head to Abbot Kinney, and on the way, make a stop on Rose Ave to grab a coffee at the Groundworks Cafe or lunch at Rose Cafe or ice cream from Jeni’s.

Walk and shop along Abbot Kinney, many high end and unique shops. Must go to Erewhon grocery market on Venice Blvd & Abbot Kinney, get a snack or drink or lunch. The prepared food is as good or better than many restaurants! Lots of beautiful people there, maybe meet new friend.

Head over to the Venice canals to see gorgeous homes, more street art and local wildlife.
Rent a scooter, bike or e-bike and go for a long ride along the beach cities bike path!
Maybe spread the bike ride over 2 days. One day ride north from Venice to Malibu. One day head south to the beach cities, riding through Marina Del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan, Hermosa, and Redondo Beach all the way to Palos Verdes!

Must save up to stay a night or two at the Terranea Resort in PV, hike at the nearby Del Cerro park and around the resort, enjoying gorgeous ocean views; play a round of golf if that’s their thing or enjoy a spa day and lounge by the pools. Experience multiple cuisines at this lovely resort.

Another day head north to hike the loop at Temescal Canyon, drive up toward Topanga Canyon to check out vintage boutiques amongst the trees, find healthy eats and artisan coffee or tea. For an evening sunset dinner, drinks and beautiful vibes, head to Moonshadows in Malibu. Spend a day hiking in the Santa Monica mountains, maybe through Will Rogers park.

Must make time for art galleries – LA County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Getty Museums.

Spend a day at Universal Studios.

Drive down Hollywood Boulevard and catch a comedy show or rock bands on the strip.

Wrap it up on Sunday at Mama Shelter dancing with the Utopia Tribe family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this to my Mother, Katie. Although she’s no longer here in person, what she instilled in me, motivates me to make her proud every day.
