We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel and Jenny Segura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel and Jenny, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In the beginning we went through some rough times when we were learning about the vintage community. We could have thrown in the towel and given up but the dream of having our own small business was much bigger then the obstacles we were facing. We leaned on each other and figured out our individual roles that would make this business grow. We’re two sisters building on a dream Rachel is the face of the business and is the one who takes care of the vintage sourcing and curating pieces. Jenny handles designing promotional content and handling other business behind the scenes. We try not to focus too much on what everyone else is doing we just want to be unique and different in the vintage community. We reflect on how far we have come in 3yrs and we know we can’t give up because there is still so much more we want to do.We have so many new ideas for the business this year that we are really excited to get to work on and looking to build our team with the new business ventures ahead.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a vintage clothing business that focuses on unique T-shirts that can be worn for anyone and everyone. We are most proud of the new journeys we are going to take in this upcoming year which will be to branch outside of just collecting T-shirts and look more into incorporating our knowledge of vintage into todays fashion. It’s not always easy but we are always motivated to try new things. A few lessons we learned along the way is balancing school, work and the business. We want the world to know that we are two sisters who started a business following our nana’s footsteps of having a female owned business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some cool places to visit and explore is downtown LA along with going to Laguna beach specifically the art district area. Outside of LA some cool places to visit are the antique malls in Orange County and when you want a taste of Disney visit downtown Disney. But a main place that we like to visit the most is San Diego. There has been a vintage flea market called Kobeys that has been very popular where we source a lot of our items. But besides the flea market visiting sunset cliffs and going to downtown San Diego and the beaches is somewhere we like to visit after a day of sourcing for vintage clothing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are so incredibly great full to our parents, family and friends who show us unconditional support through this journey. We want to say a special thank you to Sammy Jo the Fox for doing a feature of us on her The Homegirl Fox podcast and for her continued support. We also would like to thank The Polished Company for their continued support and knowledge that they have shared with us. We thank all of loyal customers and continued supporters that are helping us keep this dream alive.
