We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Clisby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson would have to be that following what you are truly passionate about will always lead you to success. I have been in the wellness industry for 15 years, first as a Holistic Health Practitioner and Massage Therapist before finding my true calling as a Holistic Esthetician – and helping people find simple ways to feel more like themselves has never lost its magic in all that time. I am still always excited to learn new techniques and ways to improve my clients skin and in turn, their lives!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always been passionate about holistic wellness, since before I even really knew what it was. Growing up, I really struggled with my skin – I was a picker, and had terrible acne that lasted into my early adulthood. That’s when I started school to become a Massage Therapist, and was luckily able to take several classes in Herbalism at the school I attended. It was like a whole new world opened up!

I voraciously studied all things herbalism, from tinctures to making my own salves and serums. I started trying all of the herbal wellness remedies – and noticed as I got healthier, my skin got better. I felt better and looked better too, and I was hooked! I couldn’t wait to tell anyone and everyone what i’d learned, so that they could improve their lives too.

I worked as a Massage Therapist for a few years and loved helping people truly feel better, but something was missing. I ended up choosing to go back to school, this time to enter the beauty industry. I knew I loved working in a spa setting, so it just made sense. At the time I had no idea how well all of these passions were going to marry, until much later.

After getting licensed as an Esthetician, I immediately moved from my small town in Orange County, CA to Los Angeles. Because of my background and experience already working in the spa industry, I was very lucky to be able to land my first job at one of the top luxury day spas in the area. I worked my way up for almost 10 years in a few different spas, ranging from a role as a Lead Esthetician at a medical spa to more boutique all natural day spas. I started gaining a reputation for being a skin wizard, often transforming my clients skin in as little as three months and gaining a loyal following that I cherish so much!

Once I was 10 years in, I realized it was time to venture out on my own. I was no longer able to grow in any of the spaces I was in, and I was ready to trust myself and just bet on me. I took a big leap of faith in 2025 and opened my spa Wild Nature Skin Studio, nestled in a cute little bungalow on a beautiful tree lined block in Toluca Lake. Creating this space has truly been a dream come true.

I wanted my business to be a safe place for people to let go of stress, a haven for even just an hour of nervous system regulation. And of course the absolute best natural skin care solutions, education and guidance on how to look and feel like your best self!

I designed it to be a magical feeling space, filled with lush green tones and natural wood. I always say it’s eternally Golden Hour in there, thanks to the soft orange-gold hue of the lighting design. During the day, rainbows dance along the floor from the large window. It’s truly my favorite place to be, and I think it feels that way for a lot of my clients too.

Almost every day, my clients come in and just let out a sigh of relief when they walk through the door. That, and the way they truly glow from the inside out when they leave – That’s what i’m doing this for, and will forever be grateful to provide.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to take people to Tea at Shiloh – it’s an incredibly special little tea house in the arts district.

I also love a botanical garden, Descanso is a favorite!

One of my favorite places for a glass of wine and a delicious bite is SweetSalt, just down the block from us in Burbank.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My education at the Healing Hands School of Holistic Health prepared me for a career in the wellness industry so well! Without them I would not be anywhere close to the skilled practitioner I am today. I also have to thank my teachers and friends at Advance Beauty College, for helping me transition seamlessly to the beauty industry.
