We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel & Jessica and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel & Jessica, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Give yourself grace! Each day will bring new challenges and new learnings and sometimes you are going to fail, but you will always come out stronger if you allow yourself to just try!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a wholesale account executive for a denim company and Rachel is a professor and mindset coach. We both knew we always wanted a business of our own, but didn’t form the idea until we were at her sister’s birthday. We were discussing permanent jewelry, how much we loved our existing bracelets and how we could build a business from it. It all kind of came to be from there

Owning your own business is not a 9-5, it is a full time 24/7 role. Even when we are not working, we are working and are pretty much in constant communication with each other. We have certainly made mistakes along the way, but have adapted, grown and learned so much in the process.

We are so incredibly proud of this business we’ve built. We love being a part of that special moment with a customer when they get to customize their own special piece and their faces light up. Jewelry is extremely personal and we strive to make each experience unique and memorable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooooohh we love to play tour guide!! First we would start at Coffee Dose for brunch and some anti-b*tch serum then head to Newport Bike & Beach rental and grab a couple bikes. Then we would bike the entire boardwalk to the tip of the peninsula and through the neighborhood by the wedge. On the way back we would stop at Lombardi’s for some sandwiches then return the bikes and sprawl out on the beach to eat them. After playing some beach volleyball and watching the surfers for a bit we would head home to clean up and get ready for the evening (maybe even sneak in a cat nap from all that sunshine!). Dinner is at Skal because the pizza and drinks are to die for and its the new place to be. After dinner we would stroll over to the Lido house hotel and take the elevator to the rooftop bar Topside for desert and another drink. Time for dancing and live music at Blue Beat! Lastly we end the night with tacos from the bar’s side window because who doesn’t love a good taco night cap!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Rachel’s son Jaxon. He gives us so much inspiration and joy. Jaxon was born with a unique disability that he doesn’t allow to slow him down or affect his happiness. He continues to laugh, smile, and try new things on daily basis and show those around him so much love. If he can do anything he puts his mind to, so can we. We love to say our jewelry is as unique as Jaxon – as a customer, you can make it whatever you want it to be.
