Meet Rachel Yussim | Medical Aesthetic Nurse and Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Yussim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first graduated I worked hard. I paid off all my loans, I paid for my apartment in San Francisco and I paid for amazing trips around the world. I worked for about 12 years in the emergency room and 2 years recovering patients after surgery.
Then I got married and had two kids. I knew i wanted to make an adjustment to my work life balance. I wanted to be involved in their day to day but I didn’t want to stop working.
I was introduced to Persimmon, a company that offers mobile medical aesthetics, and jumped at the opportunity.
I am an independent contractor, so I set my own hours and how much or how little I want to work every week.
I love being able to pick my kids of from school and not worry about attending their baller recitals.
I still work hard. I’m still always learning to be better in my current career choice. But I’m with my family and I get to be a part of their every day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ive been a registered nurse since 2008.
I was introduced to one of the creators of Persimmon through a mutual friend when it was just an idea. We would bring medial aesthetic to our clients home. Fully certified, professional, doctor verified procedures.
As the idea became an actual business I jumped at the opportunity. I trained and grabbed on to all of the knowledge I could before we launched. I quickly became their top provider and persimmon keeps growing every month.
I’m an independent contractor with Persimmon so I get to make my own hours. I drive my own education and business model. I love my clients and helping them feel brighter about their skin. But, I also love having hours that allow me to be with my family and tick my kids in the bed.
Persimmon has grown so much since we launched. Im really excited for what is to come for them in the future and Im looking forward to being a part of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my beat friend were staying with me for a weekend I would yell with excitement! I would take her on a run downtown Petaluma and we would stop for some coffee and breakfast at Della Fattoria. Then I would make my husband come pick us up so we didn’t have to run back.
We would drive up to Bricoleur for wine tasting and some snacks with a beautiful pavilion the kids can run around. Then head back to Petaluma for dinner and cocktails at Easy Rider.
The next day we would get up and do a bike ride around Sonoma and end up in the plaza for the kids to play at the playground and stop by a tasting at Auteur because why not and my beat friend is visiting!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my husband Sam Yussim who believed in me and supports me with this change in my career
