Hi Rafaela, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I firmly believe that a clear goal is essential for success. However, it’s crucial to recognize that we undergo constant transformation throughout our journey. Understanding this dynamic nature allows us to embrace the possibility of our long-term goals evolving, which is perfectly acceptable. It’s important to acknowledge and openly discuss these shifts in objectives.

Envisioning our ultimate destination is akin to using a GPS; occasionally, we must adjust our routes, but the ultimate destination remains unchanged. Additionally, success holds different meanings for each individual. For some, it may involve material achievements like owning a lavish house or acquiring the latest car model, while for others, it could be building a fulfilling family life with beautiful children. Yet, for another group, true success lies in pursuing their passions and doing what they love.

Regardless of the definition, having a clear goal, maintaining focus, demonstrating maturity, exerting diligent effort, and embracing openness are all integral to achieving success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe two key factors have been instrumental in shaping my career journey: my passion for storytelling and my unwavering commitment. Even within the realm of post-production, I find immense joy in being a part of the storytelling process. While my journey initially led me to editing and the world of cinema, it has been incredibly enriching to explore other avenues of narrative expression within post-production, such as color grading, VFX, sound editing, and music scoring.

Undoubtedly, this journey is challenging, characterized by long hours and interactions with diverse individuals. It is during these times that maintaining a burning passion becomes essential. This inner fire fuels persistence. One significant aspect that has contributed to the trust others place in me for their projects is my strong sense of teamwork. Once I commit to a project, I am fully dedicated to it and to my team, from inception to completion. I take pride in my ability to initiate and see through tasks to the end.

Though the path ahead is still filled with challenges and aspirations yet to be realized, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being of our bodies, minds, and hearts. While there are moments that demand intense effort, it’s equally important not to overextend ourselves. Persistence towards our vision and goals should be balanced with self-care, ensuring longevity and fulfillment in our journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the most captivating aspects of Los Angeles is its diverse array of experiences waiting to be explored. From the sun-kissed beaches to the majestic mountains and vibrant city life, there’s something for everyone. Whenever friends visit, I relish the opportunity to introduce them to the local gems.

During the balmy summer months, there’s nothing quite like a game of beach tennis at Manhattan Beach followed by a leisurely brunch in the vicinity. As the day transitions into night, the iconic Hollywood Bowl beckons with its electrifying concerts. Cap off the evening with your favorite cuisine under the stars, making it a quintessential LA experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I attribute my successes to God, who opens doors and orchestrates connections with others. I’m deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my family. Additionally, I owe a debt of gratitude to Ely Silva, my invaluable mentor in the realm of post-production, Marcelo Galvão, who has guided me in the art of directing, and Susana Benaim, whose expertise in editing has been instrumental in my journey.
