Meet Raheem Jarbo | Mega Ran: musician and author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raheem Jarbo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raheem, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks have enhanced, then created, then propelled my life and career. My mother always told me to play it safe; to build a plan and a foundation…. Graduate college, gain real world work experience and the like.

Once that was laid, it gave me a lot more freedom to try new things with confidence as I had something to fall back on. But now that the “plan B” has become the Plan A, I used to wonder how much further along things could be if I trusted myself and my vision earlier, rather than later. But now instead of regret, I makeup for lost time by going harder than before!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s been soooo easy. Ha! Just kidding. I work my tail off every day to innovate and expand on my interesting brand of music and it’s so fun and energizing at the same time. I’m proud to have taken a small niche subset of hip hop music to places I’ve never dreamed of going, like to Japan or Africa, and into video games and tv franchises I’d been a fan of my entire life. It’s humbling but also extremely motivating.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re spending a week in Phoenix you’d have to hit the science center, the musical instrument museum, the barcade and hopefully a Mega Ran concert. You’d get all the entertainment and encouragement you need in those places.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a big shoutout and heartfelt thanks to my wonderful wife Rachel and son Zion! Your love, support, and unwavering belief in me are the true inspirations behind everything I do. Your presence in my life fills it with joy, purpose, and endless motivation. I’m incredibly grateful for each moment we share together and for the constant encouragement you both provide. Here’s to many more adventures, laughter-filled days, and shared dreams ahead. I love you both immensely!
