We had the good fortune of connecting with Ranier Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ranier, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I want to be acknowledged for my work. Everyone has an end goal or a dream. I grew up going to the theaters to watch movies with others. I want people to do the same for me. I want to be the first born and raised Dominican to achieve international acknowledgment. It’s not about being famous, it’s about creating an effect onto people the same way these other stars do. I want to do the same and give the credit to my country, because there hasn’t been any actor like this. Either, they were born in the US (and naturally you lose part of being were you’re from) or they are born and raised in DR but they never achieve that level I’m seeking. I want people to watch a movie just because I’m there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m been lucky enough to have a smooth ride with my career. Maybe that is because I’m always working hard, but as soon as I found out that I wanted to be an actor when I was sixteen, I instantly auditioned for only one college because that’s the only one I was interested in and I ended up getting accepted. After that it was training for four years and after graduation, I instantly started auditioning for gigs. To this day I’ve booked a good amount of gigs which is nice and I’m very grateful for because a lot of people can’t say the same. I’ve learned that everything comes when its supposed to. We as young people tend to rush everything, when it should be a marathon and not a sprint race. So, just because I’m not booking anything, doesn’t mean that I’m not getting anywhere. Patience is key, like a lot of people say. I want the world to know that I’m here to bring something new to everything and my industry. Nothing more, nothing less.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For breakfasts, I would bring them to the breakfast club. The food is really good and they get to see part of Hollywood on the way there. After that I would explore Hollywood Blvd with them. You kind of have to if you’re in LA.
For lunch, there’s a lot of places and it depends on what they’re feeling but if you make me choose, I’ll go with Lala’s Argentine Grill. I love Argentine food.
After that I’d bring them to Santa Monica to see the Pier or Venice Beach and explore those areas, get some snacks or food from the small local stores there.
For dinner, I’d improvise with this one because there’s a lot of places in the area and I would like for us, including me to try something new.
Finally at night, I’d bring them to Downtown LA. So they can see the activity and everything that it has, the good and bad. Maybe we might have dinner there instead of Venice or Santa Monica.
All of these would be throughout the week of course. You can’t really do all that in one day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. They’ve always supported me from the start without any doubts and they will continue doing it until the end. I was raised by them to be a hard worker and determined. I left and came to the US, sacrificed a lot of things and I’m not throwing that away. Throughout my life, I’ve been lucky enough to surround myself with people that always support me and see my potential and I am very thankful for that. I see all of them as a collective, not as one single entity.
