We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashon Howard, MSFP, AFC® and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rashon, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is comes from the great Muhammad Ali
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
I live by this quote; it reminds me of another phrase, ” Growth & Success comes once we get comfortable with being uncomfortable.” So many people from neighborhoods similar to the one I grow up in have their dreams and ambitions crushed because someone put it in their head that it was impossible. I have lived the impossible. I have seen things and done things I never thought I would be able to do. This quote is the cycle of life, especially for people who look like me. A small-minded person loses out on an opportunity. A person who dares to act, a person who attempts the impossible, will always win over time.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SHON LLC is a community-oriented organization focused on bettering the community through financial literacy. Building value and worth through knowledge because knowledge is power.
What sets us apart from others is our drive and mission to close America’s wealth gap. We provide financial literacy in spaces where it otherwise wouldn’t be provided. We help to enhance the growth and development of young adults in underserved communities.
The smile of gratitude our high school students have after going through one of our instructional courses makes me proud. The joy and excitement of the collegiates after a keynote speaking engagement makes me proud. When young adults utilize a financial strategy learned through an e-book or webinar, every person who grows confidence in their ability to gain and grow generational wealth because of our help is what I am most proud of.
Being an entrepreneur is not easy. You have to build a following; you have to gain trust from the people you are trying to help. It takes patience, consistency, and grit. If your WHY is big enough, it can be done.
I want to create a platform big enough to help millions. Financial education alone can change the trajectory of families for generations. We represent generational change; we represent the misunderstood millennial told our dreams were too lofty. We represent you!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting the area the first place we would go is Ben Franklin Parkway. I think it is the heartbeat of Philly and the view from the top of the Art Museum especially at night is amazing.
Then, we would go for a bike ride down Kelly Drive & around to Martin Luther King Drive.
For nightlife fun we would go bar hoping in and around Northern Liberties & of course during the day go on a center city restaurant tour. We’d eat at places like South , Dim Sum Garden & High Street Philly
We check out a Phillies Game in the Summer & Sixers or Eagles game in the Fall.
I am a scenic person and Philadelphia has great places to view the skyline and great places to take in good vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my trusted circle. Your network is your net-worth! From my parents & siblings to my inner friend circle of like minded people. We keep each other on our toes, pushing each other to greater heights. My team is the real deal and I am thankful God placed them in my life.
