Meet Ray Guang Hoh | Music Producer & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Guang Hoh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray Guang, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
It is very difficult to find work life balance in the music industry, but it is necessary to prevent burning out, in my opinion. I like to shape my mind in a way that treat rest as part of my job, since it definitely indirectly impact my productivity/quality of my work.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a music producer, my objective is to unlock the full potential of artists from a distinctive standpoint. Whether through composition, beat production, strategic production choices, songcraft, or other avenues, my aim is to elevate their artistic expression. I take particular pride and find great excitement in witnessing the moment when artists experience the transformation of their music following my involvement, observing their reactions to the fruition of their creative vision.
My musical journey began when my parents enrolled me in music lessons. Initially reluctant as a child, I later found joy in performing at church and eventually joined the school band. Growing older, I began to appreciate music-making and the collaborative process with other talented individuals, ultimately leading me to become a music producer.
Succeeding in the music industry, or any field, isn’t easy. It took many trials and errors for me to reach where I am now, and truthfully, I’m not yet where I aspire to be professionally. In a market overflowing with talent, I believe that consistency and persistence will ultimately make the biggest difference in the long haul.
One thing I’ve learned in the music industry is the importance of kindness. It’s not just about advancing your career; it’s about cultivating a better character as a human being. We’re all navigating our own challenges that others may not fully comprehend. Treating everyone with empathy, as if they’re enduring similar struggles, can lead to unexpected opportunities.
I want the world to know that I am not a perfect person, and it translates in my music in a way that it is relatable and speaks to the heart. Keeping it real.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love eating hotpot with people I care about. So I would spend most of my time in China Town eating. Food is honestly the best way to bond with someone.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family will always get the credit for my success. Without their support, I would not be who I am today. And, of course, God, who gave me life to do amazing things.
