We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Rhemey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray Rhemey, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Vilda: Summer of 2021, I kept asking TaRhea to come by the studio to write songs with me, and each time I felt musically rejuvenated. I knew we had something special. We both have very different styles, however, they mesh well.
TaRhea: After releasing individual projects as TaRhea Ray and Vilda Ray, it felt natural to come together to create our own material. It was a different feeling from the times we worked together before. We were totally in sync, like a light bulb came on. I asked Vilda if she would be open to forming a duo group and she said “ YES! I was thinking the same thing!”
Vilda: Not only are we recording artists, but we are also songwriters who love to collaborate with other artists.
TaRhea: We have our own unique style that we like to call Pop&B Funk. Ray Rhemey likes to bend the rules a little while keeping you comfortable. Boxes are not for us.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally, was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
TaRhea: One of the things that sets us apart from others is our appearance. I mean look at us. We’re so different, but it works. Our vocal approach is different as well. Vilda has a very angelic voice and my voice is strong. Ray Rhemey’s music is influenced by Prince, Chaka Khan, Outkast, Coltrane, Stevie Wonder, and so many more. We fuse multiple sounds to create our own, while still giving you something that feels familiar.
Vilda: We’ve spent a lot of time together in both music and friendship settings. We have built a trust together that was built from having faith in one another. Our duo is still new, but our bond isn’t. We both continue to grow because we push one another. The challenges we face are never conquered alone. Just like any relationship, communication is key.
TaRhea: Vilda and I have learned to be patient with each other, share and respect space, we encourage, support and love each other very much. We’re like sisters!
Vilda: We want our audience to know that our music comes from an honest place and our stories are real. We are fans first, and artists second. Music is our life, and our biggest goal is to create impactful, timeless music. We want to empower people to be their true selves and shine!
