Meet Rebel Tufear

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebel Tufear and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebel, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Never giving up on the project even when there’s no promise of money or fame. Also staying passionate no matter how hard it gets or who you end up working with or without. Accepting the twist and turns and new things to learn about the industry and the people in it. Staying positive even when things happen that are not apart of the plan. Not really having a plan because this industry is so unpredictable but that’s why I love it! Never boring!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Like many before me, I came here with the dream of making it in music and art. I figured with hard work and determination, I’d be unstoppable. At the end of 2022, I drove my Jeep from Texas, leaving behind my huge loving family to follow my dream. Of course everyone thought my actions were crazy or shall we say spontaneous. Little did they know I’d been planning the whole time to make the move and had already written a lot of the music that we play now. I just went for it. There was no real plan. I relied on my faith in God to get me through the challenges I knew I’d face being a woman surrounded by men, in a mostly male dominated industry. I was used and abused and left for dead by those I considered friends. Hard lesson to learn in Big City LA but I still wasn’t gonna give up, I’d come too far. Like a Phoenix from the ashes, I was resurrected with a new sense of purpose and appreciation for the whole experience. The good and the bad. I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything happened the way it should have. I chose my path but Fate always has a way of reminding me that I never really am in control of anything. I trust the universe and am enjoying this ride. My original Band, Brain Eating Amoeba took off as soon as I came here. We have been booked since day one, currently we are taking some time to record music to add to the catalog. Be on the lookout for the new track “Wasted” which will be dropping in a few weeks. After a few years of establishing Brain Eating Amoeba. I joined an all girl project which I named Razor Burn. We’ve barley been going at it a year and already have had a huge amount of success. It’s such a great experience working with other woman who are just as passionate as me. Even when all the wheels fell off, we keep going. That’s the magic of it. The life of a musician really shows you what your made of. How tough you really are. So many are quick to abandon something when things aren’t so great, but the real winners are the ones who stick it out and turn things around for the better which isn’t easy. I just love everything about what we have created collectively with those who chose to ride this wave with me. Brandon “Bizzy” Hollemon has been there for me like no one else has and E La, our drummer from Razor Burn has just as much balls as me so it’s definitely a match made in heaven.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well because I am an art nerd, we’d visit some art museums because why not? Hit all the water fall/hiking spots we can. Visit Artist Tree for some Cannabis cocktails and just mob up and down Sunset. Viper Room, Whiskey & The Rainbow and last but not least Venice! One of my favorite spots, do just about anything!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Brandon “Bizzy” Hollemon has been instrumental in the development of a few of my projects. He’s a Grammy winning guitar player and has produced a lot of my work. He is part of some really cool projects where he does his own original music. Also he has his own company called Meanstringzent. Please check him out!
