We had the good fortune of connecting with Regan Carney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Regan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When I think about risk-taking, the first thing that comes to mind is the approach of “fake it until you make it.” This was a significant risk I took early in my career, and it turned out to be a major reward. Despite lacking clientele and extensive experience, I relied on my personality and confidence to project an image of expertise. This mindset not only helped me secure opportunities but also built my reputation in the industry. Looking back, I realize that taking this risk was crucial to my success. It taught me that confidence and self-belief can often pave the way for real achievements.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a wardrobe stylist with a passion for organization, I offer a unique service that combines both skills. Instead of hiring separate professionals for styling and wardrobe organization, my clients benefit from my expertise in both areas. I not only build and style their wardrobe but also clean and organize it. Using my fashion knowledge, I can predict trends and make informed decisions about what to keep. For example, I might suggest holding onto an older piece that could come back in style by fall. If it doesn’t, we can reevaluate it the following season.
My clients appreciate this comprehensive approach, which allows me to become intimately familiar with every item in their closet. Additionally, I now offer digital wardrobe management through the Whering app. I digitize every piece of clothing, every shoe and handbag, and even accessories, allowing me to style their wardrobe from anywhere at any time.
In creating a business, solving problems and keeping services relevant is crucial. By digitizing wardrobes, I enhance my services, making it easier to access clients’ closets at my fingertips. This simplifies creating outfits, packing for upcoming trips using the lookbook and packing list tools, and planning daily looks that appear on their calendar.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love shopping and food so if my bestie is in town, that is what our itinerary is revolving around. We are grabbing a coffee from Alfreds and breakfast sandwiches from Yeastie Boys Bagels, then shopping around Melrose Place. The Real Real is also a go-to. Erewhon smoothies for a mid-day snack and off to get a blowout to get ready for the night. Laurel Hardware for dinner and drinks – shoutout to PJ behind the bar!
Day 2 we are sleeping in, hiking Malibu and then hitting the beach to sunbathe. Jon & Vinny’s for dinner. Perfect weekend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my day one clients who have been with me from the start and continue to return and refer others. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and trust have been crucial to my success. Beyond being clients, they have become true friends, and their impact on my career and personal growth is immeasurable. I’m deeply grateful for their role in my journey.
