Meet Regan Wojick | Casting Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Regan Wojick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a risk and something I never thought I could ever do. While I was unemployed for a short period of time in 2024, I thought about what I was really passionate about and landed on Casting which I’ve been doing since 2022. I looked for jobs, but nothing piqued my interest and I was always thinking about what it might be like to be my own boss, which ultimately led me to start Pulp Casting. I thought about how fulfilled I would feel to take the leap of starting my own casting company. The idea that I could build something that was completely mine excited me and pushed me to pursue it.
The most intimidating thing about this whole was process was just starting to go for it and push through the fear of failure, but once Pulp Casting was created, I never looked back.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pulp Casting is all about seeing people of all different types from all walks of life. I love when I take chance and present an actor or model that may not have been on the client’s first choice, but then they end up booking the job!
Though my main focus is Print Ads and Commercials, I’ve been privileged to work on a few great short films – I’m always down to work on something that is purely for the art as well.
I give everything I do a personal touch. I always try to be professional while personable with whoever I work with because my entire business is people! I’m always up to meet people I’m going to work with, whether it be in person or on the phone, I make sure to be myself and figure out how we can execute a project together. This is such a fun and rewarding industry that I’m in so I always make sure I come into any project, no matter how difficult, with a positive attitude.
It was not easy to get this off the ground. I reached out to more people than I can remember and either got a “no” or no response. It was definitely hard to keep up my confidence and I just kept reaching out and building what I could to pull in potential clients until I finally got a “yes.” I was a really “squeaky wheel” haha.
I’ve learned that rejection and mistakes are all part of owning your own business but you can always adjust.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently went to Real Charmer and it was so cute so I would take them drinks at Real Charmer then dinner at Checker Hall. After Checker Hall, head downstairs for a show at the Lodge Room.
There’s so much to do here – it’s hard to choose a few! I love to go to so many places here whether it be walking around Elysian Park and finding a great view of the city, going to a show at any number of venues, or going out to drinks at the Thirsty Crow among many other great bars. I always just love going to any LGBTQ+ events because those are my people and it’s a great way to make new friends.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It might be a bit cheesy and cliche but I would love to shout out my friends, family, and girlfriend for having my back while I figured out how to pursue this on my own. Without them, I might not have had the confidence to go for it.
Shout out to Catherine, Ed, Taylor, Reed, Chas, Matthew, Tommy, and Julie! Also want to shout out the directors and producers that have taken a chance on me as well as others that have lended me a hand when I needed it.
