Meet REYSHA RAMI | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with REYSHA RAMI and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi REYSHA, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Everyone uses Autotune or some sort of tuning assistance when recording vocals, regardless of naturally vocal capability (& many people use Autotune when performing live!).
I think another unfortunate misconception is the belief that having a lot of streams on songs translate to making a lot of money off of your music, when it doesn’t.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I decided in mid-May of this year that I was going to commit to releasing a song every other Friday for six months. I did this as a way to try and improve my emotional wellbeing post-releases, because I’ve always struggled with ruminating on stream counts and comparing myself to other people, which isn’t fun to acknowledge. Starting the experiment was almost a last-ditch effort for me; it was either that, or stepping away from being an artist, because I wasn’t having fun. Luckily, the experiment is 100% working, and I’m no longer finding myself fixating on how a song is doing on Spotify because I’m focusing on getting everything ready for the next release. Because I’m taking this approach, I think I get to have a really special byproduct of being able to release music shortly after making it, which keeps the organic excitement alive for promoting and marketing the releases.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
By far, the person who deserves all of the accolades towards where my artistry currently is is my executive producer, Dex Barstad. He’s been with me since 2016 when I first became exposed to creating original music, and has always challenged me to think just a little more outside of the box. Dex has one of the most sustainable perspectives for being in the music industry, and he’s kept me grounded in so many instances when I couldn’t see the point in releasing music anymore. He’s the main person behind any song you’ve heard of mine and I’m incredibly lucky to know that he will always be in my corner.
I also want to highlight the other key players that help bring the music to life with my visuals: my stylist, Rumsha Hassan; my hair and make up artist, Bear Campbell; my movement coach and choreographer, Tiffany Stringer; Jake Johnston, Sam Veeramachaneni and Elise Schatz, directors of photography and creative directors who have consistently worked on my cover artworks and music videos; and my frequent songwriting collaborators, Stephen Collins, Charlotte Reed, and Maria Naylon.
