We had the good fortune of connecting with Richie Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Richie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
It has taught me to be resilient, patient, and persistent.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a touring musician and performer there are many challenges you must overcome: doubt, impatience, frustration. Throughout the years, I’ve learned that pursuing a career as a musician is one of the most difficult things to do. Why? Because, we are great at lying to ourselves. We make ourselves believe we are better than we truly are because the reality of failure is too great to swallow. However, when you are truly honest, when you make no excuses, when you push past the limits that others put on themselves and you on yourself you find that the very fear of failure becomes nothingness. Your passion and strength overcomes your doubts, and that’s when you become unstopabble. I’ve not fully arrived at my final destination, and I don’t think I ever will. That’s the beauty of seeking growth. Passion doesn’t die if your satisfaction in it comes from the pursuit of learning, growing, and evolving.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s easy! Luckily I live in Nashville and we have so much to do. Here’s my trip: Coffee stop
Lunch at a hot chicken spot
Coffee stop 2
Walk around Radnor Lake
Check out a local music store
Coffee stop 3
Check out the Capitol
Dinner at Oak Steakhouse
Sit in on a jam session
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
