Meet Riku Campo | Makeup and Hair Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Riku Campo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Riku, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
My interest and love in fashion and beauty industry

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am Makeup and Hair artist based in Santa Monica.
I am doing makeups and hair for photoshoots : Ad campaigns , catalogues, Lookbooks, e-commerce photoshoots , editorials and also private clients for their events and weddings or whatever people need to look and feel the most beautiful !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start going for an hour or two walk on Santa Monica beach.

Then breakfast at my favorite place : Cora’s in Santa Monica : 1802 Ocean Avenue , Santa Monica 90401, Ca

Another breakfast place is the The Shutters Hotel’s Beach Cafe where you can see the beautiful beach while enjoying your morning coffee or tea.

On Sundays you can go first at the Santa Monica Farmers Market on Main Street from 8.30 am on and buy the most delicious berries , fruits , bread and other organic food or just walk around and have a breakfast right after on Main Street at the Urth Cafe that is famous of its pastries! But also some amazing omelettes!

There are many places to go and see in Santa Monica !
Sports : surfing , golf, tennnis, swimming , amazing yoga and pilates classes…anything you want!

Culture : Art shows at the Bergamot Station, 18th Street Art Center and Jeanie Madsen Art Gallery.

Lunch:
Cortyard Kitchen on Montana Avenue is one of my favorite lunch places and at the same time you can do window or real shopping on many great boutiques ! The Montana Avenue is also a SPA avenue for facials , massages , mani-and pedicures and other treatments so you can spend here the whole afternoon!

How about if you give yourself a stretching treatment for 90 minutes at the Stretch Lab ? A therapist stretches your body and you will feel 10 inches taller after the treatment!

Happy Hour :
If you love delicious cocktails then go Citrin Restaurant at 5.30 pm to sit on the bar . The bartenders will make the best cocktails in the whole LA County ! And the food is beyond delicious too.

Another Happy Hour place is Hotel Casa Del Mar. Just make sure you have a window table so you can see the sunset …absolutely gorgeous !

Dinners :
If you like Italian , then Via Veneto that has the best food Italian style ! 3009 Main Street

Best Burgers : R&D on Montana !

Dinner with lounge music by a live DJ:
The Huntley Hotel rooftop bar and restaurant

Another great cocktail and dinner place is the Proper Hotel lobby bar and rooftop bar and restaurant

If you like candies and chocolate : the Shoop Santa Monica has the best selection of all european chocolates and candies. They also have an easy breakfast and lunch!
