We had the good fortune of connecting with Rio Summers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rio, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is my authenticity. By staying true to myself, I’ve connected with millions of people around the world and tapped into markets I never anticipated. My genuine approach has allowed me to forge meaningful connections and build a brand that resonates deeply with a diverse audience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of resilience and confidence, driven by a deep desire to connect with others. What sets me apart is the trust my supporters place in me; they often seek my advice for their personal and professional challenges. This connection, forged on an intimate level, fills me with pride, even as I maintain my own privacy.
I’ve worked hard to achieve my dreams of seeing my name in lights, fueled by a relentless hunger for success. However, the journey has not been easy. Balancing work and life can be overwhelming, and being thrust into the spotlight brought its own anxieties about public perception. I overcame these challenges by staying grounded in my purpose and surrounding myself with a close-knit circle that keeps me balanced.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned crucial lessons. Not every opportunity is worth pursuing, and my self-worth shouldn’t be tied to fame or external validation. I’ve also realized that kindness is far more powerful than being “cool” or aloof; we’re all navigating similar fears and aspirations.
I want the world to know my story because it resonates with many who struggle with self-doubt or feel distanced from their dreams, whether due to geography or circumstance. My experiences over the years have taught me that these obstacles can be overcome. Listening to your heart and pursuing your passion is vital. My journey is one of perseverance, and I hope it inspires others to chase their dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d kick things off with a trip to In-N-Out because, let’s be real, it’s a SoCal rite of passage. And if I’m picking them up from LAX? They owe me a few huge favors for that adventure!

First up, we’d head to the Santa Monica Pier to soak in the vibes and grab some great drinks at The Bungalow. Maybe we’d even stop by Giorgio Baldi for a celebrity sighting and some delicious bites. Another day for lunch or dinner, it’s a must to hit either Tev’s Kitchen or The Peppered Goat—both spots are amazing!

No trip to LA would be complete without a visit to Miracle Mile. We’d check out The Grove and swing by LACMA for some art and culture. Then, it’s off to the Fairfax district for some trendy shopping.

Of course, we’d have to hit the beach—preferably a stunning spot in the Pacific Palisades to watch the sunset and soak up the true SoCal experience. And since we’re close to Malibu, how could we resist the famous Nobu sushi or the classy Moonshadows restaurant?

As the week rolls on, we’d need to catch some local events. I love Movies On The Beach, Jazz nights at LACMA, and Everyday People at The Beehive—don’t forget the Hotwater Cornbread events there too! We’d probably end up at the chic, members-only SoHo House to mingle with LA’s elite, because why not?

This itinerary would guarantee my friend the best time ever, filled with fun, food, and unforgettable experiences!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people who have helped me become the Rio Summere I am today. I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Melissa,
my high school guidance counselor Ms. Teresa McGuckin,
one of my best friends, Amanda Perez,
and my late grandmother, Mary Ann Brown. Each of you has helped me create this wonderful life and I can’t thank you enough.
