We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Vinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am born and raised in New Orleans. My father did photography as a hobby. I watched him growing up and seeing his passion for photography. I didn’t know that one day I would follow in his foot steps.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I do photography I tend to look for something different than the everyday person sees around New Orleans. At first I really didn’t have much interest in photography until my dad passed away. He was a photographer.
My wife told me to go get his camera gear to have something to remember him by. The following day after I picked up his camera gear we went the zoo with his camera.
Well, the photography bug bit me and have been hooked since.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them for a day trip to the French Quater. You really need to go during the day to see the history and details that make this area so unique. I am a huge fan of details. I would also suggest lunch or dinner at K-Paul’s or Emeral’s. Some of the best creole food.
I would also suggest sometime on the bayou. The scenery is unique and endless photo opportunities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to the memory of my father Joe Vinson.
