We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Shultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always felt passionate for music. I love being in a creative state of mind and speaking to people through emotion. I want people to feel good, happy, sad, angry – whatever the mood is. My end goal is to make me people feel something… past, present, or future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was heavily influenced by Ja Rule, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Chamillionaire, Kevin Gates, Ludacris and Twisted Black. These artists shaped my music artistry. I wrote in so many notebooks and when I was at a low point in my life – I threw away all of them. I stopped making music and gave it up for 10 years before I started to write again. I was motivated and pushed to pursue music again by so many great people who heard my phone recordings on social media. Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat connected me to so many other people, friends, fans and creatives that I’ve grown with and have continued to motivate inspire me. As life moves forward, the obstacles will always be there, but we learn to overcome them. The lessons you learn along the way is not a punishment, but a knowledgeable reward. The things we learn are so valuable – use them to be great or be destructive. Our journey may not be easy, but surround yourself with the right team and the right people. Don’t Give Up!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico so I’m not going to leave the State to show them a great time. When we wake up, I’m taking them to Suenos Coffee, Black Bird Coffee, Munchin’ Mocha Coffee or Latte Corazon Coffee – Those are my Favorite. When we get hungry I’m taking them to Tacos La Mordida, Dion’s, Frontier Restaurant, Mario’s, Slice Parlor and Vernon’s Speakeasy. There are way more places to eat, but too many too name. I would take them on the Sandia tram, trek the Bosque trails, go to Ojo Caliente and Sandia Casino. We would explore White Sands and the Carlsbad Caverns – and if the time is right, we would go to the Balloon Fiesta. There are so many amazing things to do in New Mexico.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my beautiful girlfriend, Leanne Mares, for always being by my side through every obstacle in my life, but for loving me, motivating me and inspiring me each day to be better than my last. I want to thank God for giving me a beautiful life and allowing me to give something back to the world. I want to thank my engineer Aaron Gutierrez (AyoBudd) for believing in my craft and pushing me every session. I would not be here if it wasn’t for him. I especially want to thank all of my fans for giving my music a chance when I thought nobody would. I’m so excited to share my journey with you all!
