We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Monique Rios and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin Monique, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe my success as an artist has been staying true to myself. I create work that moves me first and once it’s available for the public to view they are free to feel and interpret from the work however it moves them to. Art is meant to provoke a sensory and emotional response. I put my entire self into my work and all I can hope Is the viewers have an honest response to it. And for the past 20 years it’s been a wonderful experience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born an artist. There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not doing or contemplating art. I’m inspired by the world around me on a daily basis. I’m also lucky to have so many wonderful artists around me. We support and encourage one another as it is vital for our survival in a world that feels artists are less deserving of appreciation for their creative skills. Nevertheless, I surround myself with good people and I share my work with the world freely and I expect nothing. I am grateful for the gift of creativity and that my friend is not for sale!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends visit or when I visit them, we like to be in nature. So hiking or painting outside or finding a beautiful setting to have a picnic. That, for me, is the most precious times to spend with my artist friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that have been instrumental in my movement through the art world, Jerod Schmidt, Parker Harlowe Ned Broderick, Carl Virgo, Melissa Kolbusz, my family and so many other wonderful people who are always spreading the love and Inspiration. It takes a village even in the art world.
