We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocio Geraldine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocio, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always had a deep passion for the arts, whether it’s acting, dancing, or music. From a young age, these creative outlets have been a source of immense joy and tranquility for me. Pursuing an artistic career allows me to immerse myself in what I love most, bringing a sense of calmness and fulfillment that nothing else can match. It’s not just a career, but a way of life that enriches my soul and continuously inspires me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In a world where challenges can either break you or build you up, I hope that my story can stand as a testament to the power of resilience and determination. At sixteen, my mother fell ill, thrusting me into the role of primary caregiver. It was a challenging time, but I refused to let adversity define me. Working tirelessly at a real estate law firm and starting my own property management company, I pursued education alongside caregiving responsibilities. Against all odds, I earned a master’s degree in cognitive behavioral therapy, driven by my passion for helping others.

Balancing work, caregiving, and my own education was incredibly demanding, both emotionally and physically. There were times when I felt overwhelmed and doubted my ability to keep going. During this period of growth and self-discovery, I stumbled upon my love for acting and mindfulness. Combining these passions, I founded “Art of Mindfulness,” a platform aimed at fostering presence and authenticity through mindful improv. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my acting dreams. Amidst auditions and rehearsals, I also dedicated myself to building “Leave Your Mark,” a nonprofit aimed at making a positive impact through global volunteerism.

But through it all, I’ve learned that every struggle and setback has been an opportunity for growth and learning. Each challenge has made me stronger, more resilient, and more determined to continue pushing forward. And while the road may not have been smooth, every obstacle has ultimately shaped me into the person I am today.

In 2022, I found love and companionship in my amazing husband, embarking on a new chapter of adventure and purpose. Together, we traveled the world, spreading love and kindness, all while nurturing our nonprofit’s growth.

And now, as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our baby boy in July 2024, we stand poised on the brink of a new, exciting chapter. With an unwavering commitment to making a difference, we are ready to embrace the journey ahead, inspiring others to find their own strength and resilience.

I hope that my story can be a testament to the transformative power of perseverance, passion, and compassion. Through every trial and triumph, I’ve emerged stronger, more determined, and more committed to making the world a better place. As I embark on this new chapter, I’m filled with hope and excitement for the impact yet to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m someone who can pack my week with many things to do. There is so much to do when you come to California, starting in LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Napa Valley, and many other places. If we decide to stay in Los Angeles, I would take them to the Observatory for stunning views of the City and the Hollywood sign. We would head to the beach, like Venice, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, and Malibu. I love the nightlife in West Hollywood because it’s fun and lively. Experience some top-notch restaurants in downtown LA. Experience some amazing hikes nearby and other outdoor activities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. So many people have helped me in various ways, and I believe even the smallest interactions had a profound impact on my life. However, my mother holds a special place in my heart. She has endured so much in her life, and when I was 16, she became severely ill. I became her primary caregiver, and having that responsibility taught me strength and resilience. Her unwavering support and the lessons I learned from caring for her have been invaluable in shaping who I am today.
