Meet Romiah Puertollano

We had the good fortune of connecting with Romiah Puertollano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Romiah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think risk lies within how deep your faith is and how much you trust in the Universe and God or whom and whatever you believe in. Within my career I have dived into things blind. Just running on the faith that no matter what happens and no matter the outcome it will all work out for me. The belief in your own talent and what you can offer has to be stronger than your fears. Plus there is no growth in staying in your comfort zone. Risks build character, makes you wiser and builds so much confidence within yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think of myself as a creative because my hands are in a few things. Dancer, Instructor and Makeup Artist and now venturing in the fitness and beauty industry deeper. Dance really took me far in life and introduced me to different avenues that I didn’t think I would be doing today. This road has not been easy. A lot of ups and also a lot of downs. It really builds your mental. You hear a lot of no’s and you get critiqued on your “look” and sometimes you get put in a box based off of that. Plus you never know what casting is looking for or what the choreographer is looking for. So you really have to be sure that you have something special that no one can duplicate. That no matter the outcome you just have to keep going. I always say if God put it inside of you then you can not deny that talent you are gifted with. There are so many lessons you learn in this journey but through that you learn so much more about yourself. I want others to feel my authenticity when they see my work. Whether it’s in the entertainment industry or the beauty and fitness industry. I put a lot in my work and I want people to see and feel that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on the season it would be different haha. Let’s say it is end of summer going into fall i would suggest something outdoors like a hike somewhere or a little trip to Sequoia or Lake Arrowhead. Then another day I would suggest a beach trip to Manhattan or to the OC. Also, I love amusement parks (I’m a kid at heart) so I would take my bestie to Disneyland or Universal. Also, there’s this amazing Restaurant/Bar in Santa Monica called Jonah’s Kitchen and Bar so I would 100% bring her there one of the days for dinner. Not only is the food immaculate but the vibes and people make the experience that much better.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize the teachers and choreographers that believed in me and my talent. My 216 Agency family who has believed in me since the moment we met. Just having that faith in me that I can go far with my talent. Derrell Bullock for training me and pushing me to dive into my greatness and never allowed me to settle. I think his faith in me really added to my confidence of really going for it in the entertainment industry. Roberta and Brandie from Debbie Reynolds studio for having trust and faith in me as an instructor. Without them hiring me as an instructor I probably wouldn’t have as many doors open for me both with dance and makeup. Also, everyone one that has stepped foot in my classes and hired me as a makeup artist. Without them and my friends I honestly wouldn’t be able to do what I love. Lastly, my new family with Harman Fitness. I’ve shifted into the fitness industry now and this company has been so amazing and I’m so grateful to be apart of the team.
