Meet Ronan Lemus | Standup comedian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronan Lemus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronan, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has given me things I never thought I could have so far . With out taking risks you could never escape your bubble . You learn a lot from every risk you take and when you learn, you can grow.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Standup comedy has always been apart of my life and making people laugh has always made me happy . I’ve lived and suffered a lot of trauma as a child and the only way to cope was to find the funny in everything . My mentality is that even when I’m doing good in comedy I feel that it isn’t enough and thats what drives me to keep doing better . Some say it’s a curse but I think it’s just the price to pay for success. As a comedian being funny was never the issue for me it was mostly the gate keepers of comedy and egos that bigger comedians have . When you’re not a veteran around the comedy scene or a comedian with credits you don’t get any respect or shows . It’s untill you make enough noise at opens mics that they may offer you a spot at a local bar or restaurant , it’s at those shows where you meet more veterans and ask for their advice on jokes and how to book more shows . I learned that a lot of success isn’t about how funny you are , it’s about who you know .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would always definitely 100% recommend going to the Comedy store . At the Comedy store they have food ,drinks and have a lot of history there and also the comedians that go up ,after they’re done making you laugh all night you can see them outside just hanging out at the bar and you can hang out there and just see Comedy all night till two in the morning, you also run into a lot of celebrities .
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
