We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosabelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosabelle, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has been a huge factor for my self development and even spiritual growth. Through taking some of the most outrageous risks, I was able to connect with my true self and learn how to trust my intuition – which led me to find my path. Now, more than ever, I happily honor myself by doing what I love – making music – which probably would’ve never happened had I not taken certain risks.

One of those risks was leaving behind my steady and secure life in New York City to move across the country, here, to Los Angeles. At that time, LA was a whole new world to me that I knew very little of – I would see pictures of the pink and blue sky’s, the streets lined with palm trees and mountains in the near distance – all I knew was that I wanted to be here. I quietly planned the move for several months until one fine day I put in a transfer request at work, announced to my friends and family that I was leaving and bought a one way ticket here – the rest is history and the now is just as perfect as I imagined it’d be. With that being said, I didn’t need to leave NYC to make music, but I did have to step outside of my comfort zone to kick start this journey and I’m so glad I did.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Singing and songwriting was my little secret for many years; growing up I lacked the confidence to share my voice with others, and the resources to record all the songs I was writing. Life was kinda tough then, so I was mostly in survival mode and my focus had to be in other places. Fast forward to December 2020, alone with my thoughts in a new city in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, I dropped my very first completed project, an album I titled ‘20 Al Tur – a little play on caribbean Spanish slang which translates to “come on the tour.” I haven’t stopped releasing music since.

I found my voice and preferred sound through experimenting with the music I love to listen to: Reggaetón, Bossa Nova, R&B, Bachata, Salsa, Jazz and Hip Hop to name a few. This new sound I’m working on I call: Levetón; it’s the fusion of the sounds in Reggaetòn and Pop Leve, with lyrics inspired by my Caribbean roots, my current soft girl era and the hopeless romantic in me that never gives up on love – spreading joy and good vibes through my divine feminine energy. I’m super excited to share this funky new vibe and extremely proud of myself for making it this far.

The burning desire in me to create was like a nonstop tap on my shoulder, so annoying and demanding to be acknowledged. I learned to listen to it, block negative thoughts and fear of rejection. I’m immensely grateful for this platform, helping me and others like me share our stories and the art we might have fought against or for, for too long.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This city has so much beauty and culture to offer, often times when my friends come visit from NYC, I don’t even know where to start! But here’s a few places I like to frequent for a good vibey vibe:

Food: Karibbean Cusine – Dominican food truck (big Dominican energy!), Leo’s Tacos in Echo Park, Sevilla in Long Beach, and Isla Cuban Latin Kitchen in La Palma (live Salsa music on weekends)

Dance: Tenants of the Trees, No Vacancy, La Descarga

Hikes: Point Dume in Malibu, Tuna Canyon in Topanga and Santa Ynez Canyon and waterfall in Topanga

Beaches: Dockweiler for bonfires, Treasure Island in Laguna Beach and El Matador in Malibu

Artsy Stuff: MOLAA, LACMA and any local pop up art exhibition I could find

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

There are many supportive people that I am so grateful to have in my life, and there’s a few that currently stand out – actively contributing to projects and keeping me motivated. My shout outs go to them:

@CharleyTropical – Singer, songwriter and one of the kindest and most talented souls I know. She’s always there for me as a friend, and fellow creative. She’s been a huge inspiration for me and the twin I never knew I had!

@Trillxsmiff – Producer and one half of the dopest DJ duo ever, Kiss & Mars. Curating fire sounds (produced the sounds in my latest single; JetSki), and spinning top tier Latin tracks all over LA. I appreciate and look forward to collaborating with him more.

@DruLira – Producer, music engineer, artist and songwriter pushing a captivating new sound; West2K. Collaborating with me on my Levetón project – even helped me coin the term!
