Meet Roshan | 3D Concept Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roshan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roshan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was never the strongest student academically, but I was always drawn to creative outlets like music, dance, drawing, painting, and even computer games. After finishing school, my brother suggested I give animation a try. The idea immediately intrigued me, so I decided to pursue it. That’s when I realized I could actually build a career out of the things I naturally loved doing. Once I discovered how to bring the ideas from my imagination into reality for others to see, I was hooked and couldn’t get enough of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art has always been about storytelling and bringing imagination into reality in a way that connects with people emotionally. What sets me apart is my ability to merge technical skill with a strong creative vision, whether it’s through character sculpting, environment design, or cinematic storytelling. I’m most proud of the fact that I can take ideas that once only lived in my head and bring them to life in a form others can see and feel.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I didn’t come from a traditional academic background, but I always gravitated toward creative pursuits like drawing, painting, and games. With the encouragement of my family, I pursued animation, and that decision shaped my career. Along the way, I faced challenges, self-doubt, learning curves with complex tools, and the pressure to constantly improve. But I overcame them through persistence, curiosity, and the support of my family and friends

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from consistency and openness to learning. Every project, whether successful or not, has taught me something valuable.

What I want the world to know about me and my story is that my art isn’t just about visuals, it’s about creating worlds and experiences that immerse people, spark emotions, and leave an impression. My brand represents creativity fueled by passion, discipline, and the belief that imagination has the power to inspire and connect.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d start by taking them on a drive around the area to explore all the best food spots and end the evening with a movie. The next day, we’d head to the beach for some sun, do a little shopping, and return home for a comforting home-cooked meal.
On day three, we’d make a trip to Mahabalipuram to enjoy fresh seafood right from the sea, followed by visits to nearby forest parks and museums. If we needed a break, day four would be all about geeking out with anime and computer games, while day five would bring some fun physical activity with a friendly game of badminton or basketball.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a great deal of credit to my family, my mom Shoba Radhakrishnan and my dad U.R. Radhakrishnan, who supported me through every challenge. They ensured I had the opportunity to study at good universities and guided me at every step of the way. Most importantly, my brother Harshan Radhakrishnan was the one who first encouraged me to pursue animation during my undergraduate studies, which ultimately set me on this path.
