Meet Rowan Dowdall | Artist and Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rowan Dowdall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rowan, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
To me, that is completely defined by how I feel the process is going, and how much I’m actually enjoying that process. For example, if I’m working on a song and it’s just tedious little things that need to be fixed and I’m not even that excited about how it’s coming along, I’ll probably scrap it or tuck it away. On the other hand, if it’s the same really tedious stuff but I’m having fun with the song and liking the way it’s starting to come together, then that’s essentially where I know to keep going with it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think I am still overcoming challenges and learning constantly. It certainly wasn’t easy to get to a place of consistently and fluidly making music and art. There were plenty of nights where I would stay up until very early in the morning trying to understand how a guitar worked, or how to produce music. I think something I’ve found that helps keep my art original and unique is to create things that I personally enjoy and want to see more of in the world, no matter whether it would be commercially successful or following a trend.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think I would start in Venice Beach and take them to the art walls there where you can do legal “graffiti’. I think one of the best places to eat in LA is Easy Street Burgers, I have personally never eaten a better burger before, and it’s not one of those ridiculously priced LA food places where you have to save a month’s paycheck. After that, I believe another necessity for me in LA and one of the coolest experiences I’ve seen is the Grammy Museum. They always feature a new artist exhibit in it so it’s never the same.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate it to my mom, and to all my incredibly supportive friends and family. I could not have asked for a better circle around me, and am very grateful for everybody by my side. Every time I have ever felt lost or stuck, I always feel I have someone to turn to, to help guide me through it.
