We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruhani Sandhu-Kamboj and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruhani, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel the need to take risks is absolutely essential to accomplishing the dreams you have, and quite honestly, even though its frightening at times its extremely worth it. Was fortunate to see other successful female entrepreneurs such as Sarah Blakely, Vera Wang, and Tory Burch whose stories are very inspiring and gave me a pathway to chase my passions and show that it is possible. Without risk and passion I quite honestly find it impossible to achieve your dreams…so definitely its absolutely essential.
What should our readers know about your business?
My family has been around the aesthetics and dermatology industry for the past 30 years so growing up in it has really made me feel like its a part of my DNA. I think because I grew up around it, I’m extremely blessed as it allows me to think of what’s coming next in the industry–and I truly feel that’s what sets us apart from others. Business is never easy, especially when trying to diversify your offerings in the health and wellness space, but I feel as though there is a huge opportunity to grow and expand into health and wellness to truly take care of an individual both inside and out. Working in a post-covid-19 world has made me realize that as a business owner you have to wear multiple hats more than ever. Finding others who are passionate about the industry rather than just looking at it as another job is definitely a challenge, so persevering and being agile is definitely traits I’ve had to pick up. We want the know the world to know, Sandhu Dermatology & Aesthetics is aiming to be a place where people can trust us to put their needs first without compromising. We’re passionate about what we do and the results will speak for themselves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So much to offer in LA…different flavors for everyone, but I do have a few places that curate the experience for me. First would have to hit up Studio Kay in Glendale. I go there for color, cuts, treatments, and Brazilian blowouts..and from my experience, they’re one of the best in SoCal. Jon & Vinny’s in Brentwood is a solid spot to grab a bite to eat, Otium in Downtown Los Angeles and Osteria Mozza on Melrose are also high on my list. Big on hiking, so would make the trek out to Malibu, and head over to Solstice Canyon Trail where we could get some cardio in amongst some beautiful scenery. In terms of hanging out, I do love to head out to 41 Ocean and The Bungalow, both of which are in Santa Monica. Finally, would round things up with a trip to The Broad near the Bunker Hill area which has been a nice addition to the city since it opened.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom and dad have always inspired me and encouraged me to be driven, resilient, and chase my dreams regardless of what obstacles may come in front of me. He’s helped mold my vision into what I’ve become and what I’m trying to become today. My husband for always having my back and encouraging me to chase success. My sisters who’ve helped me stay strong and follow my convictions. Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers for teaching me the time, effort and discipline required to master your craft.
