Meet Ryan Kline | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Kline and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I started my pursuit of a creative career shortly after I graduated high school. I was enrolled in a stage craft class for several years and working close with other creatives really stimulated my creativity. After I graduated I felt somewhat lost when working the mundane 9 to 5 job. At the time I was an aspiring musician and somehow scored an amazing opportunity mixing audio for our towns single A baseball stadium. From. Then on it was like a wild fire of inspiration. I knew that I had to be involved with the creative industry. I stayed with tha gig for several years until my photography portfolio gained the attention of Avoh.com. It’s rather funny really, I had never thought in a million years that something I enjoyed so much as a hobby could turn into a profession. Now 4 years later I’m continuing to hone my art and am still working as a full time photographer. I guess in short I pursued this career because I knew if I didn’t I would still be stuck in minimum wage jobs or forces to pursue a career that didn’t make me happy, and happiness is everything to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If I had to describe my art I guess I would say I’m all about striking emotion without words. I want to tell a story through striking visuals. It wasn’t always as easy as it can be and still sometimes it can still be a struggle to portray. When I take portraits, which are my favorite yet most challenging form of photography I do, I love creating dramatic and emotional images that let you see inside that person’s mind for just a glimpse. Portraits need to make you feel and think about the person who’s in frame, otherwise it’s just another selfie in my opinion. Landscape photos have always been my passion and I find they are the easiest for me to tell stories with, and for this reason I really enjoy blending portraits with vast landscapes. The feeling you can get is somewhat romanticism as well as sureal and it’s really something I strive for in my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places in Los Angeles would have to be Burbank, or more specifically Bob’s Big Boy. If you have the chance to see it at night or catch a cruise in, it is truly a treat. And the surrounding area is equally as amazing especially for those who enjoy street photography and architecture. Also all you cinema buffs will love being in the heart of the movie industry.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So the shoutout is such hard thing to do because there are just so many amazing people that have helped me along the way. First of I have to give the biggest shout out to my parents Kenny and Kirsten Kline. Without their support and unconditional love I would have never been free to experiment with various arts and I certainly would’ve never had anyone there to help keep me up even if I failed. Next I have to thank Friend, and mentors, Mark Glouner and Jeff Youngblood. Both amazing photographers and truly great human beings. I’ve learned so much from them in the years I have worked along side them. They’re a huge source of support and they gave me my first break into the photography industry. Without them I would be working that dreaded 9-5 and I am forever thankful for that. Finally o have to give a huge shout out and much love to my girlfriend, best friend, and biggest fan, Alison Siffleet. We met because of out passion for photography before I was making money doing what I love and now, years later she is working along side me as a professional editor. She always has my back and is always pushing me to get my next best photograph. We recently just returned from an excursion through the South West to work on a book about our countries vast canyons and geological wonders. She’s been with me every step of the way and I couldn’t do it without her. She really is my rock.
