We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrina Habibi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabrina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that I wanted to start my own business when I got a taste of the suite life. When I was an assistant I began in a salon suite and I loved it. I love having my own private space, the one on one attention my clients get, and not being around so much energy in a typical salon. Being my own boss and being able to make my own schedule was also a huge factor in starting my own business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I never considered myself an artist or a creative person until recently. I realized that I am creative and my art is on the heads of beautiful people. I am so proud of how far I’ve come and the hard work I put in. Coming this far was not easy but it was well worth it. Hustling early on really helped me achieve and build the clientele I have today. Some lessons I learned is that it’s okay to make mistakes, we are all human. I want the world to know that I love what I do, and I love helping feel good about themselves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we would go have breakfast at the Beachwood Cafe. Then head to Malibu for some beach scenery and visit a coffee shop along the way! Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorite places because it holds a lot of memories for my friends and I.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people that deserve a big thank you because I am so grateful for them for being on this journey with me. First, my family for always believing in me and for encouraging me to pursue this career path. Someone who I am extremely grateful for is Phillip, he was my first mentor when I entered the hair industry. I learned so much from him and I truly value his friendship. He has helped shaped me into the hair artist I am today. I would also like to thank my fiance, he was there for me since the beginning and never stopped believing in me. He helped build some of the furnishings in my salon suite as well and that is a memory I’ll never forget!
