We had the good fortune of connecting with Safyra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Safyra, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind the success I have found in being an intuitive is disconnecting from the societal norms that set us up to do a particular thing, in a place, in particular way, at a certain time. It was as if I didn’t get the memo lol! I just didn’t do things the way other people did and it didn’t bother me. I very innocently go towards what I am curious about. I don’t hesitate and then I dive into it if I like it. If I had been concerned about college and getting a masters degree or succeeding at a certain thing by a certain time, there would have been absolutely no freedom to cultivate the gifts that I have today. I would have spent my youth trying to achieve and keep up with whatever status symbols we decide to honor in a certain moment. There is a setup here. The current system that’s in place puts so much significance on logic and ‘being right’ that it condemns you when you are ‘off the path’, creative or intuitive.
I went off the deep end and tried to use my intuition and my sensitivities to guide me. Quite often I was told by family members, or more specifically, those aligned with their left brained, logic sense of the world, that I was going down the wrong path or that what I was doing was a waste of time. I think most of what I do does not make sense if you were to trace back the steps in order. However, in the long haul, everything leads me to exactly where I need to go. There is a synchronicity to my world that seems to align over and over again. You’ve really got to trust in that, and trust in a felt sense of your world that cannot be quantified. The only reason we don’t have a million clairvoyant, psychic intuitives running around is because there is so much fear in leaving ‘the system’ or what makes sense to our logical ‘left brain’. I think the world could do with one less tech worker and one more clairvoyant any day. And the reason for that is not to downplay technology, but simply to upsell the need for connection to our intuition, our emotions, our bodies and each other.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Clairvoyant Reader who teaches people how to open up their intuitive channels through Yoga and Qigong. I would say that I never set out to open this business, it more so formed itself. In my early 20’s, I began cultivating my ability to see energy and dove into yoga and other healing modalities. I come from a family background that has many intuitives. Folks on both sides of my family line have intuitive gifts. I went to Psychic School, and yes that does exist! I graduated from Psychic Horizons in California as a licensed spiritual counselor or Reverend. After that I began offering free readings everywhere I went. It slowly built into people wanting readings for more serious things and I began to charge for this. It has been quite a journey of creating a platform for all of the practices, breathwork and training that people really need. I was noticing that people were missing certain things that I could provide in teaching the technique instead of just offering a reading. I could then see that the practices made them feel stronger and more centered so teaching the practice itself has become an integral part of my business.
My work has reached folks all over the world. I have worked with people in Latin America, once doing a reading for a gang member in La Perla in Puerto Rico. I have worked in the Middle East with women who may be going against the establishment to even ask for a reading at all. I have worked with many Americans as well. The work with Americans has been great because the culture has opened up to this work so much it’s incredible! People in Los Angeles specifically are really open to clearing karmas, ancestral lines and healing their trauma. I would say even in the Industry it’s very popular. Gwyneth Paltrow created an entire show called ‘Goop’ on the subject. So it has truly been rewarding to work and grow within the culture of Los Angeles, there’s no place like it.
Overall though, anybody who needs more clarity on their life as well as healing from past trauma can be serviced through this work. The readings are there to clear past karmas and the practice is there to help heal the body and ground you in your power. I love being able to help people in this way and I love the work that I do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh this is a hard one. Los Angeles is such a rich and full place to live. If you’re in the Los Feliz area, there’s Fern Dell Drive at the entrance to Griffith Park. I used to teach Qigong at the entrance to the park. I also love driving down the 27 through Topanga Canyon down into Malibu. There are some really beautiful sites along the way.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to my mother. She is a scientist and I was raised in an environment that highly valued the logic brain. I am grateful for her ability to leave space for me. She very much allowed me to follow my own path without judgement and because of that, I would come back full circle and check things out from her scientific perspective as well. Perhaps I was an experiment to her, to see if I could actually come to correct answers by only using my intuition. The fact that I have pursuaded her to actually believe in my work is an accomplishment in my book.
