We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Boersma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Rebellion can make us feel ostracized from the group, turning us into the ‘black sheep’ of our family or community.
But the black sheep are the artists, visionaries and healers of our culture, because they are the ones willing to call into question those places which feel stale, obsolete, or without integrity.
The black sheep stirs up the good kind of trouble. Her very life is a confrontation with all that has been assumed as tradition. Her being different serves to bring the family or group to consciousness where it has been living too long in the dark…
The world needs your rebellion and the true song of your exile. In what has been banned from your life, you find medicine to heal all that has been kept from our world.”
— Toko-pa Turner, from her book, Belonging
Envisioning a more authentic and heart-led world has been the driving factor in my life since I was a little girl. For a long time, following my heart made me feel like an outcast. There were times within this logic-led society that I thought, “I must be crazy. This isn’t what everyone around me seems to be doing.” However, there was a relentlessness to my visions that I just couldn’t shake. Now, I’m so grateful to be building a life that has promoted my own healing and can promote others’ healing as a result. I’ve learned that life provides for you beyond your wildest dreams when you follow your heart’s song.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an energy worker that speaks the language of flowers, acting as a bridge from spirit to physical to remind you how connected, supported, and nourished you really are. I do this through my signature modality, Flower Readings, which are part healing ceremony, part offering of tools to navigate the ups and downs of this wild world.
I do this by looking into your energy and connecting with the flowers or mushrooms that are waiting there to help you heal. Together, we create balance in your aura and then take you on a guided journey to remind you of the wisdom that lives within you. This work is a braiding together of my life’s training in Divine Feminine Ayurveda, Tantra, and Yoga, nervous system work, psychic plant communication, and psychospiritual depth study.
My craft is creating channelled flower essence blends that help you shift the waters of your body towards greater healing. Flower essences are a vibrational medicine that work with your subtle body (emotional and spiritual ailments) to create deeper harmony. Each flower has its own medicine to share with us. When we capture and ingest its frequency, though flower essences, we bring that wisdom into our cells, slowly shifting our own energetic makeup.
My approach to working with plants is a form of reclamation that has been birthed from my own spirallic journey of healing – one that started with deep suffering and an initiation by fire (chronic illness and autoimmune disease), in which I learned to heal myself in body, mind, and spirit. Along the way, I woke up to the constructs of the world that made me sick, welcomed home the parts of myself I tried to forget, and mothered myself whole. I learned the power of subtle medicine and that most of our ailments start in the spiritual realm, therefore they can be best healed by spirit medicine.
I’ve been on this journey for many many years and it has been wrought with challenges, but what I’ve learned, most profoundly, is that the more you overcome while keeping an orientation of gratitude for the growth, the more confidence you gain in your ability to move through just about anything in this world.
I hope to inspire others to remember that they are wise, empowered beings, with so much agency, and that they can choose to live from their hearts, too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When special people visit, I take them to the best top secret enchanted waterfall spots, wildflower hikes, and river’s edges.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many incredible people who have helped me remember my innate wisdom. Extra gratitude to my teachers, Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. John Douillard, Alex & Terri Cole, Katie Silcox, Deborah Hanekamp, Emily Hamilton, and Margaret Hunt, along with the many many others I’ve learned from along the way.
