Meet Samaria Stewart | Dancer , Choreographer, Creator , Artist , Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samaria Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samaria, what are you inspired by?
The simple answer for that is life. I feel like life shows you that no matter what it gets better. You experience many emotions and sides and seeing what that brings out of people and us as human is a beautiful journey. So I let that guide me,I use my emotions and feelings to create. By living life everyday in my purpose and pushing through everyday I get to see the joy in always having something to inspire you and push you along. Especially when you see your friends and peers applying the same things in their life and journey

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im from the city of Chicago, Englewood to be exact. It’s not the easiest place to grow up as you can imagine. So with that being said my imagination was always big and my dreams were always bigger. Being brought up in that city brought out a beautiful soft side of me but a more edgy side to. In my art today you see that shine through , i’m not the softest girl when dancing and I like it that way. My connection to the music and culture all stems from where I was brought up. That’s only a story someone who’s from Chicago can tell and I think that’s how I am able to do it so well.
It took me years of hard work, tears and all types of sweat to get here. I picked my whole life up to come here and pursue it.It was not east at all but not for one second did I expect it to be. Learning to put pride aside was a big lesson pursuing my dreams. I simply had to learn to ask for help and learn to become okay with needing it. I moved across the world at 18 so of course I ran into many obstacles, I knew absolutely no one here. Evwrything was so foreign at first the networking , the way class was ran , the training … the people. It was lowkey scary and guess what …it’s even harder now i can only imagine.
Along the way I learned to remain true to what makes your soul and art happy. Never alter it, you can polish it and sharpen it up … but never change it. It’s the only thing that makes you different. I fell in love with my art once I leaned more in on what made me unique or different.
My brand and goal is simply to show the new generation what’s possible with your own thoughts , body and ideas. You are in control of your creations and thoughts and I want us all to live in that a little more. I dedicate my art to becoming more free.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel like the easy answer is disney land. I can eat, drink hangout and get a thrill all in one place. Lol sounds great to me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a ton of people I would love to shout out but the one to tackle is definitely my friends and peers in Los Angeles. Ever since moving here that easy support and love has carried me really far. From jumping in my videos and dancing for free, or staying up with me while I create or even just critiquing it … it all mattered and still does. All just for my ideas and dreams to come true. Love is not given like this at home all the time especially when everyone where you’re from is in competition. Support is a strong tool and it has allowed me to grow in my paths. So shoutout to my peers and friends who have ever been apart of my journey. I love you
