Meet Samira Sahli | Film Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samira Sahli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samira, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It’s really the ability to create something out of thin air, that fascinates me. There’s a unique magic in watching an idea materialize and come to life, shaped by the efforts of everyone involved. It’s that moment when everything seamlessly comes together, and the synergy of creativity becomes a tangible, shared experience. When you put the movie out there it becomes a life of its own, drawing each and every viewer into the world we collectively created. It’s a fascinating experience to see how the story, emotions, and messages resonate with the audience, transcending the initial creation and becoming a shared journey for all who engage with it. For me, there is no job in the world that could provide this real-life magic.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work in the film industry all started out at a film festival where I began to work as an intern. The following year, I was tasked with handling the entire production and eventually took on the directorial role. Despite being thrown into the deep end, I persevered, and everything came together. This is where I saw the magic of production come to life allowing the film to captivate the audience in its world solidifying my decision to stay in the creative industry. Through the festival, I met Julien M. Wagner, director/writer of our production firm, The HUB Media. In the production office, we crossed paths by chance, discussing movies and discovering our shared passion and values , when months weeks later, he entrusted me with producing his first feature film SEPTEMBER BABIES. This marked the beginning of our journey, with the film recently premiering at the famous Chinese theater in Hollywood at the end of February. The Swiss theatrical release is scheduled for March 14 2024, followed by an international release in summer 2024. While we never anticipated reaching this point, the journey as an up-and-coming production with an average age of 25 was far from easy. The key to overcoming challenges was having a dedicated team that I love and who supports and trusts me unconditionally. Unwavering commitment and perseverance brought us to this point, and it’s been a learning experience which you’ll never forget. I’ve come to understand that nothing is impossible if you believe in it and are willing to go the extra mile. Our team’s young spirit, dedication and commitment set us apart, making us a well-coordinated team as we are being able to be in our position today. It’s about being a puzzle part of a whole and never forgetting the privilege of telling unique stories.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The perfect day in Los Angeles would start off with the vibrant energy of Venice Beach in the morning with the iconic boardwalk offers, street performers, eclectic shops, and the soothing sound of the Pacific Ocean.
After soaking in the sun and sea breeze, the next stop would be the world-famous Universal Studios or the Paramount studios. Stepping into the magic of filmmaking, the studio tour provides a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood’s cinematic wonders, which just gets me every time and lets the filmmakers’ passion grow even bigger.
As the day progresses, heading towards the evening, the journey would take us to Santa Monica Pier. Welcoming the spectacular Californian sunset, we would perhaps grab a famous in n out or shake shack burger and astroll along the iconic Route 66-end point.
To culminate this perfect day, the grand finale awaits at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The architectural masterpiece becomes the backdrop for an enchanting live show which rounds it off perfectly – a city that seamlessly blends the laid-back beach vibes with the glamour of the entertainment industry.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my core film team from The HUB Media, our Writer/Director Julien M. Wagner and Director of Photography Damian Derungs who have been there from the beginning, put so much trust in me and have had my back through all the ups and downs that a film production brings. Reflecting on my first feature, we made it through a rocky journey where being surrounded by people you love and who share the same drive and dedication is essential. It’s a path that pushes you to your limits and requires a team with whom you never give up. Their unwavering support and collective commitment have been invaluable, turning challenges into triumphs. They are ultimately the reason why I am here today writing this interview and I am truly grateful for the shared journey we’ve undertaken together.
