Meet Samuel Anglehart | Artist & Founder of Playground Printing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Anglehart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samuel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Fun is at the core of Playground Printing. I enjoy what I do and who I do it with and that makes all the difference. I created the brand as an opportunity to not only expand upon my own love for printing/textile, but to help others do the same. Over the past couple years, I have expanded my own offshoot brand, Wisconsin Design Team, bringing timeless Wisconsin gear to American collegiate market.
Social platforms has become an integral part helping us organically grow and allowing both like minded creatives and customers to see our unique process oriented design strategy and ultimately feel connected to the finished product.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As I am creating I find myself discovering that much of my influence stems from my Midwestern upbringing in Lacrosse, Wisconsin and deep love for contemporary American art that showcases that true Americana culture. That centrality to nature and human consumerism is a clear through line in my work, as craft notions are the forefront. Whether it’s patchworking, experimenting with hand embroidery or going through typography archives. As of now I would best define the work I am doing as a contemporary spin on craft heritage.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a go with the flow type of guy living in New York City – I would generally head toward Williamsburg and catch a vibe around there. Roberta’s for some pizza, walk along Domino Park looking at the city, maybe catch a game of bowling at The Gutter and head to Bushwick’s Bosa Nova for a night out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my team with whom none of this would be possible: Briar Ion, Josh Kuhn, Kaz Baladi, Maxime Hilaire
