Meet Sandra Beatrice | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Beatrice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandra Beatrice, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
One of the most important things I have done as a parent that has a positive impact on my kids is making sure I am mentally, emotionally and physically okay.
I have learned that truly understanding my stress, emotions and body has helped so much in my interactions with people, especially my babies (big boys, but always my babies).
In our home, if ever any one of us is feeling anything other than good and our attention is needed from another, we simply say ‘space’ and we all know to give that person a minute to collect themselves. The person also saying ‘space’ knows that their attention is needed and skills should be used now to collect themselves for this interaction.
I love our little support system at home.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Everyone who’s ever encountered me would say I’m an outgoing extrovert, what people don’t know is that I had massive stage fright! Being paralyzed on a stage in theater as a kid is what made me file away acting as a delusional idea in my head and I had to start thinking of how I would live the rest of my life.
I’ve been working at my organization in health care for 11 years now, but it was 7 years ago that I felt trapped. There was no way this is what I came to live this beautiful life experience as. I refused to believe that this was it. There was no way i was going to let one fear stand in my way of living life to a fuller potential. So finally in 2020 I stumbled upon Kent Skov’s LA Connection Comedy Improv Theatre while searching the internet and made the call! Due to the pandemic everything was on pause, but that summer was my first time doing Improv Comedy online posted to YouTube. I credit improv comedy and online meeting spaces for helping me over come my fear of stage fright. I did this for about 6 months until I felt ready to make my next move. That’s when I started acting classes. I met the wonderful Mark Tillman online and Ellen Jacoby online and got to study with them both and truly start to explore myself. The stories continue, but once I faced this fear of mine, life started to take off in such a beautiful direction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You can never go wrong with hopping around L.A. Live. So many amazing places to see, grab a bite, get a drink. People watching in LA is one of the most entertaining things to do.
I love live music, but more so when it’s in smaller venues such as The Palladium or Shrine Auditorium.
I live in Long Beach today and we have amazing places to check out at The Pike and so many great places to eat in Belmont Shores.
But my favorite place that is a must for pupusas to eat is Los Molcajetes in East Los Angeles. It’s away from the scenes, but their pupusas are my absolute favorite!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh man! There are so many people in my story that have had positive impacts in my life and career as an actor, but my constant number one fans and supporters have to be my two sons, their father and my grandmother.
My two boys are always in awe of me when they see me on a day that I’m tackling my 9-5, getting off work to film a self tape for an audition, making them dinner and then I’m out the door for an acting class. They absolutely love seeing that a person can take care of their adulting responsibilities AND still pursue their passion.
Although not together, their father and I have the best co-parenting relationship. It’s thanks to him that I’ve been able to take off across the country to film for my acting career and not have to worry if my kids are in good hands or not. Including a time where I was on set and needed our kids to meet me there due to a last minute no show from the other actors where my boys were able to fill in. No matter how crazy my ideas or requeats have been, he has always been on board with my pursuits in acting and in making sure our kids are taken care of.
Now, my grandmother is the biggest and loudest cheerleader I have ever met. Her excitement for me and any little thing I do in acting definitely adds a great fuel to my fire. And of course, it’s thanks to her that I can leave for evening acting classes during the week.
I couldn’t ask for a better support system!
