We had the good fortune of connecting with Saneit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Saneit, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I started working for myself as a hair braider in 2017. This was the only way I was able to create my own schedule and give attention to my artistic desires. While I was working a 9-5 I felt so drained. It made it extremely hard to book studio time and when I did I was exhausted. As an entrepreneur I feel way more balanced. I can dedicate as much time as I want to my art.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This year I am featured on two upcoming albums. I’m very excited about that. I’m always happy that people want to include me in their projects. I’ll be releasing a new single and visual in November titled “Nothing Like Them” As the professional I am today it took a lot of experience. I learned from every relationship and every project. I’ve worked with people that are expertise in our industry that have shaped me into who I am today. I’ve also learned from my failures. Being an independent artist is not easy. You have to want it every single do even when you don’t feel like it. The most important key is believing in yourself because it’ll be more than enough people that won’t. There’s going to be times where you won’t be recognized or the applauses aren’t loud but you have to pay your own self on the back. If you do it because you love it it’ll be worth. If you do it validation you’ll do more harm to yourself. Don’t wait for someone else to tell you who you are. You should tell the world who you are & they’ll soon call your name.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved to LA so I don’t have any favorite spots yet. What I will say is I love tacos. Tacos are my life. I’ll always find me a good Mexican restaurant. I don’t care where I am in the world. As far as hanging out, I enjoy events like comedy shows, day parties and happy hours. I also, like pop up events. I’m good for looking up things to do. I wouldn’t want to do something I could do anything. I enjoy making the best of anything and having memorable experiences.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, family, my videographers (Maurice Jackson), my producers (Ricosuparich, Spunkbigga, JishB, Hitman audio, Ayo Millz, Lipe, Rozart) my engineer (A-Train), my alma mater (Howard University) & everyone who supports and keeps me inspired.
